Please do net get offended, but to me it looks childish. The color scheme would fit much better with a site for preschoolers. You have taken on a very serious subject, but the colors make it seem like a spoof site.

You have a lot of articles, but no proper reference to back up where the information comes from. A date and a city name do not give the article credibilty.

You should also have something up front that will attest to your own credibility. How do we know that you are not a cook just making up stories? Not saying that you are, but how do we know?

I think the site could use a little redeigning to make it look more serious and responsible.

Good luck.

It's very hard for me to get offended, so don't worry what you might say.

Childish? I was hoping for something a little more constructive I guess.
I do agree with you on the color tho, maybe a little lighter blue perhaps?

Me a crook? No my friend your thinking of Richard Nixon maybe! LOL

Credibilty is there my friend, do a search on my sight in your home state and then do a search on the "www" and see if you don't get 5-20 articles on the same police abuse and misconduct stories.

If anyone thinks I make any of this up, they must live in a cave.

You said: I think the site could use a little redeigning to make it look more serious and responsible.

Well that's why sortof came here, but your response hasn't help much, any better sugestions?

Ok... I have to agree with the previous poster the colours are wrong for a serious website.

2. When you go to the full text version the font is too small. Remember that not just those with 20/20 vision browse the internet, but also those who sight is not so good. The size of the text makes it very hard to read.

3. You say in your reply to the previous post that all the stories are legitimate but perhaps they would appear more legitimate to the general public if the source of the information was quoted. eg. Was it a daily paper or another posting on the internet.

Hope this small amount of information helps.

What would you suggest for serious colours, for a serious site?
Thought maybe "blue" would be a eye catcher.
I don't want a site that is all black with white text on it, seen too many of those and they look awfull!

I do agree with you on the text, going to smaller font. It does need to be larger!

Ya wanna tell me what "color scheme" looks better?

One color scheme is the home page,

Second color scheme is on my "home page" on the left side under "TEST PAGE."

Thanks

Default Site Review

"Ya wanna?" how professionl sounding - NOT! I took a look at your site and it does indeed tweaking. I checked it in Netscape 7 and found it displays completely differently there.

You are using depricated code "<font face="Comic Sans MS" size=6>" and useless code "<p align=center><font color=#ff00ff></font></p>".
Use external style sheets and you won't have the problems with fonts as you are having now. Comic Sans for one is not a good font for a serious site.

"police line do not cross" blinking text doesn't add anything to the site. In fact, it detracts. Nuke it. Nuke the date and time. They also add nothing and take up valuable virtual real estate.

Is this site pro-cop or anti-cop? I can't decide whether you think the cops are the good guys or the bad guys. You need a focus. Perhaps you could study existing police agency websites for ideas and apply some of their style and design to your site.

I hope this was specific enough for you and not too harsh.

Pat

PS: Now extract your revenge - please review my site

>>> "Ya wanna?" how professionl sounding - NOT!

...Wow a forum that lectures us on grammer...Thanks teach !

That's something I never thought, was to check on Netscape.

The Font I will change if needed, after I look at Netscape.

>> Is this site pro-cop or anti-cop? -- I thought the news stories would have indicated that! I probably do need to indicate what this site is more about at the beginning of the page.

I made some changes to the site!

I promise you I will look @ your site tonight.

Thanks

I'm no expert - so take this for what it is worth.

The color issue - Policecrime.com should be a strong masculine site. Get a way from the light colors, they look to feminine. Stick with dark blue and dark grey background with white letters. Maybe some red background would be OK. I think it would be OK to have some more white background with black letters or a smattering of red letters for attention. (note: I agree what you said about black backgrounds...so keep the area that has a tan background and just change the table areas with the pink and light purple.)

The logo issue - The font on the logo at the top of the page is way to crayon like. Change the font, go for a STRONG BOLD POLICECRIME.COM. I would very much consider going on to ebay and finding one those people who do logo designs. Usually for $35 someone will make you a great looking logo. On ebay search for "logo design", then review their samples.

Overall - When the page first opens, what you see in the browser has no graphics...it needs some. This could be accomplished with the logo.
I think you have done all the hard work..the content. You have put a lot of work into the content and just with a few changes to design it should look great!
Good luck,
tinplane

Default Site critique

WOW, I read all the critiques and you can do all that but the topic and articles caught my attention more than the light blue and pink. Sure do the changes it is good practice but I say again wow this information speeks for itself! Good subject keep up the good work! Citizens are being killed by the same people who are working for us to keep us safe, oh God I am scared!

I had dark "blue" on my site, before someone on here suggested it was better fit for a site for preschoolers!

I agree that the colors should be darker. Maybe back to blue again.

The old "blue" can be seen at the bottom of my home page, click "old stories."

Ok here I go again!

What does anyone think of the "colors" on my site?
On my "message board", if you look its a "black and gray" with blue back ground not sure if I want to go that direction?

Pink on my site! Ha hA! How funny, I forgot I was sortof color blind on some colors. It looked grey to me! Ha

Anyways any suggestions on the colors on my site, I would appreciate.

That could be part of the problem.
On line 42 of your code, the bg color ff66ff, get rid of it all-together. ff66ff is purple. Remove it and it will be white and that seems to look better.
The bg color ##ffcccc is pink, change it to something like #6699CC (an off blue that seems to work well).
On your top banner add one line of space under your links, so they don't touch the edge.
I still think a cool logo with maybe a waving flag in the background would go a long way. Maybe a picture of mcgruff the crime dog with a big bite out of his a--, and a caption that says, "take a bite out of crime."
Best of luck.

Well I'm pretty sure I got rid of the pink.

I think a logo would be great also!

Default Lecture on Grammar

It's a peeve of mine. When people say things like "ya wanna" "Love ya" "I'm gunna" "um kay" it basically indicates that they really aren't sincere, and it sounds like baby talk.

My thinking is if you're going to request a peer review within a forum such as this it doesn't sound professional to talk like a 9th grader signing a yearbook.

my 2 cents

The site looks pretty good in the current color scheme imo. I am not sure if you want to, but if you post additional stories that accurately describe some of the good things the police do for the public, you may appear more credible and objective. The site doesn't really appeal to someone who is not anti police.
