| Submit Your Site For Review Need a fresh set of eyeballs to take a look at your site? Have a specific issue or question about some aspect of your layout, design or interface? This is the forum for you. When submitting your site, be sure to discuss what aspect you are looking for input on. Just posting a link with the word 'review' isn't appropriate. |

I would like any input on my site that I can get. I put on and organize Pool Tournaments in the Southern Oregon area and would like to know if my information is easy to follow. All suggestions appreciated.
Thanks, Dan B |

hmm...ok... best to start at the top & work down the front page to begin with. Dont feel discouraged though! :-)
1. You have no doctype at the top of your document (the code). Up top you should have something like: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> 2. Top left hand corner you have a ">, which is an extra from the following meta tag: <META NAME="Description" CONTENT="<META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="Want to Play Pool in a tournament in your area, pool tournaments,">"> 3. You dont just have a double up, but you have a triple up! Your whole top section of your code needs to be redone. You only need one title tag, and one each of your meta tags. And these are to be in your <head></head> section, not in the <body> of your code. 4. I'm not sure which browser you used to view this, but in IE6 & Firefox its all over the place. It seems you may have used either Word or Netscape editor to design it? If so, I would suggest looking around for another WYSIWYG editor, and learning some HTML so you can have better control over your site. 5. Lose the animations. (they arent working for me anyway). They are pretty archaic & do nothing to enhance a site really. 6. Your top title was designed for a white blackground, and you have it on a black background. Thats why all the furry bits around the edges. 7. Reduce the size of your borders. Those kind of borders were popular when people first started to venture into designing webpages, but they are archaic now, and make a site look very amateurish. A thin border would look a lot tighter & a tad more professional with the final product. 8. Ditto for the @send email. It does nothing for your page. A simple link with 'contact us' or 'email us' is sufficient, but if you want to use a graphic for it, it doesnt have to be so big, and expecially not in the title section. 9. Your top links need formatting better for presentation. Try having them vertical down the side of the page, or if you want them horizontal, have the text smaller so they fit better. 10. There is too much bold text on the page. 11. If you are going to have those pool images as dividers, make the rest of the bar co-ordinate in colour with the image. Your actual content isnt that bad. You just need to tighten up the page somewhat. At the moment it is reminiscent of early web designs. With a little bit of planning & formatting you will reduce the length of your page, have it view better on different browsers, and load faster. Good luck! :-)

Boy once I got the Pool Cue out of my eye (I fell on it).
Thank you very much for the suggestions. I have redone my site some, I know that it will need more, but this is a start. Once I read your suggestions and took a look at my site again It really hit me in the face how dated it did look. My Regards, Dan ;) ;) ;)

On its way there ! Now experiment with formatting the structure of the page. Rather than have your text running across the page & down the page, organize it into areas, blocks, tables.
The links up top are a LOT better. I would still say lose the email link in the title bar, and rather than get rid of the image you had up top before, incorporate it into a title graphic for your site. But you have given yourself a better canvas to work on now. :-)

It is appreciated that you would take your time and expertise to help others with their projects. I think that the best part is that you don't just say I like this or that, but you give suggestions on how to better the page.
My Regards, Dan ;) ;) ;)
