www.hiperprop.com
Hello
www.hiperprop.com is a Spanish Property website, set up about 3 - 4 months ago. I would be interested in any feedback, positive or negative.
Also curious why I have a good Alexa ranking but not a good PR. Used to have a PR3 until recent shake-up. Now 0 on all pages. Is this punishment? Or should I just accept I need to get more inbound links.
Thanks

Hi! The site is OK, looks and works well. You have an excellent relevance title/content (100%!) but using too many keywords and characters in description (don't use more than 20 keywords and 200 characters for description.
Your google PR=0 with a unique inbound link would be 1. Here there's two reasons. The good one, Google didn't indexed yet, and the bad one, This is punishment. ¿Why?
I don't know. ¿Do you make changes recently? If you don't make spam, there's no reason. (si prefieres versión en español, ya que mi inglés no es de oxford envíame un PM)
Good Luck!

Thanks Guillermo, I appreciate the advice.
I suspect I have penalised by Google for something, but what I do not know. Will reduce the keyword content slightly. Thanks.

Google will initially give you an estimated PR and then reevaluate. That generally puts you down to 0 and you climb back up. It's temporary :)
Alexa gets it's rank from it's tool bar users who are primarily british. These people holiday in spain so possibly hit your website frequently while looking for other sites. Thus the rank. Google operates differently.
I have a PR5 site that is of no interest to the British so it ranks poorly on Alexa - and that's ok by me.
Keep you site well, get inbound links that are relevant and you should be fine in Google.
Although:
* remove the javascript from the page,
* use H1 tags properly
* learn CSS properly, you're using it, but not well
and you will see you site working better for you.

Hi,
You've used very nice colours for your site and the mechanical aspects of it are great. I can't find any fault in those parts (not that I'm an expert).
The News tab, however, doesn't sit well with me. I'm not sure what is 'news' per se and what is just put there in the absence of a more suitable location. It's not clear what "frequently asked questions about legal matters" has to do with news. Also, it's not clear what "searching for you with our new property alerts our new property alerts system" has to do with news.
Then you've got the 'News Categories' with clumps of vaguely connected consumer profiles. I really don't think these belong in a News section. News is news -- period. This page detracts from the lustre of the remainder of your website as it displays a certain ad-hoc character overall.
Sorry for the criticism.
Cheers,
Matt

I have seen your site, it is really good and the loading is fast. I do not see any problem with it though you do not have a Pagerank. As far as I know, if you have not committed any spamming with repeated submission or keywords stuffing then you will get your Pagerank in a month or two. Maybe getting a few more quality links will boost your Pagerank.

Hello,
I'm not so much an SEO person as most of these folks. So I'll review more of your user experience.
First off, I think your overall design is nice and clean. However, as a white american, I see latin cultures as colorful and festive. I admire that. So, if this were my site to design, I would introduce a bit more color and texture. I think your news links work well on getting a person(s) excited about moving into their new location. Just be carefull not to pull them from what they came to the website to do; buy property. Possibly add a 'browse properties' button for those that are not too sure about what they want. On your http://www.hiperprop.com/results2.asp?flag=top page, I noticed that the image is squished and pixelated, which might distract from the beauty of the home. They are amazing, BTW! I'd say, let the main image extend to it's full 400x300. Also, the images that extend down the right of the same page should be thumbnails to a larger image. As your user, I only clicked on the image hoping for a larger one to see, without looking at the image itself. Maybe use javascript to replace the main image at the top by clicking those. I think that this, and your other listing pages, are the most important pages on the site. They are the "store front" for your customer. Make sure it's flawless. ;)

Hiperpop.com
I took a detailed look at the site as I am actually looking to buy a property there. I found that when I specified porperty type, i still got comercial properties listed. When choosong an area, it would be helpful for me to see a map of areas that you have properties. I also agree with having bigger pics, remember people like me will make a important decisions based purley on the photo and description. If I like the look of it then my next step would be book time off work and take a flight out there. Now if I was disspointed and felt misled by the website then I certainly wont want to do buisness with your company.
Your mortgage calculator is very good, it gives a comprehensive breakdown. I certainly will use this calculator for ANY mortgage that I apply for.
Lastly as you develop your site it would be nice to see other areas and a temperature guide on the homepage.
Colour scheme is very good it has that holiday feel, but as you know design is a very subjective matter and you will never please everyone all the time.
Good luck

I agree with snovak!
Give your site a bit more of a colorful look! Plus I don't like the blue on the yellow that much. This does make you think about sandy beaches and the sea but the small text is slightly difficult to read. Oher than that a nice functional site!

Hi there. I am no web design expert but thought a few comments mostly from a user perspective may help (I am looking into buying a property in France, Italy or Spain at some stage).
Overall: Nice site - love the header graphic and the good clean design. A couple of things - I would consider adding the word Spain to the end of your title (to help with searching as many people may include that word in their search phrase). Also, all your images seem to have the text 'feungirola apartments' as the alt tag - perhaps use different alt tags for each one? I would also use black text rather than blue as it's easier to read and people are used to linked text being blue and the rest black. I echo the comment about the mortgage calculator - very useful: perhaps feature this more prominently.
You may wish to 'encode' your email address using something like http://www.hivelogic.com/safeaddress/ to avoid those nasty spam harvesters...
In your search maybe add another price bracket option - from €100,000 to €200,000 is a big gap, so perhaps have a €100,000 to €150,000 option? Your featured properties look stunning but somebody clicking on that link first may think that your properties are out of their price range [€325,000 to €1,200,000] when your full list has properties for less than €100,000 - so you could add one or two of the nicest lower priced ones to your featured properties page? Prices in pounds, even if just a rough guide (ie approximate) due to fluctuating exchange rates would help British buyers as you don't have to calculate the sterling price in your head or use the currency convertor all the time.
Finally, as others have said, back links from other relevant sites with good page rank will help your page rank and rankings over time.
Buying a property 'in the sun' seems to be a thriving market at the moment so the demand is certainly there for your service!
Hope this helps,
Mark.

Nice! The colors and layout really fit the subject matter and it's nice organization of information.
A few minor points:
Anyone who is colorblind might have a hard time reading light blue links against a yellow background.
You may want to adjust the margins in the "Costa News..." content area so that there's a little more padding on the left side. It's not tragic, but it's a pet peeve.
I tested your property search engine in Mozilla Firefox and it doesn't work. I get a blank page. I know...most people use IE Explorer, but there's a fair number of folk out there who use non MS browsers.
I have no further input on your Google woes. It looks like you've received great advice already.
John
