530 Keywords? Oh my!

Make yourself easier to find - the only links to the About Us, Contact Us, and Site Map are at the bottom of the page. Those are the three things people look for most.

I thought your site was another one of those 'get rich quick schemes' when I first opened it. It has all the earmarks of it. Picture of money, green and blue colors, and the 'Do you want to save money?' question. If I wasn't do a site review I would have clicked away before the site completely loaded.

You have a clean site, it loads fairly quickly (I'm on dsl so everything loads fairly quickly). The color works against you and the lack of personalization. It's all about you and should be about the customer - in other words you use the word 'we' more than the word 'you' and it should be the other way around.

Good luck with the site, you've got a good start.

Default Fixed Keywords

I don't do the design work myself, but thanks for the information. Keywords should be better now.

Hi

Unlike the previous contributor I don't react badly to your colour scheme. What I didn't like was the jumping around, distracting box top right which was screaming at me to click on it. I didn't click on it and I'm sure most people wouldn't (or do they?). It seems to cheapen the site and draw you away from the main point of being there.

It loaded quickly for me too (and I'm on a dial up connection). I agree about making contact information obvious and at the top. On our site there was a sudden jump in the stats when we put our address and phone number at the top of every page (after it had been suggested to us as an improvement.

Good luck with it all - we're in England so unable to take up your suggestions for cheaper phone calls!

Best wishes
Martin

You should do something about the color scheme. Give a more softer look like giving a gradual gradient instead of blocks of rect. I quite like the color scheme under the wireless service. Maybe you should consider using that for the home page.

It will be good if you can standardized your font too.

Default Looks good but...

I would look into adding more keywords to your titles. In my experience, having the main keywords of the page in the title can help quite a bit with ranking.

Otherwise looks good. I would probably hyperlink specific keywords on your page that links to other pages in your site.

On the main page, for example, instead of hyperlinking "Find out how to tell the difference and keep your money at home." why not change this "Who has the cheapest rates" to "Who has the cheapest long distance rates" and linking that? I know many will say that isn't a big deal, but in my experience, it does make a difference in rankings if you also pay attention to the other aspects which help ranking (ie off site links to your site with keyword links).

Just my 2 cents :)

Thank You Martin,

The ad at the top right is a way for a website owner to bring in extra income with the alloted advertising space. Many people click on these ads. I don't know about the flashing ones either. I want it to be eye catching but not cheapen the site. Its profit for the site though. I guess I win some and loose some on that huh?

Everyday browsing has taught me, if I'm looking for contact info scroll down or open my eyes, if they build it I will see. Honestly if I could I would only design a website so there was no scrolling based on 800 x 600 or a 15inch monitor. That way it wouldn't matter where I put the contact info, you would always see everything.

How it made your stats jump on your site doesn't make sense to me though. If you said your got more orders, got more phone calls or more snail mail or email, that would make sense. How did you stats jump exactly?

Hope to see a reply soon. Thanks again!
Darin

Thank You Danny,

I can't change the color scheme to much right now, but that is a good point. You mention standardizing the font. I had some font that was a little off at the bottom, I tweaked that a little. Maybe standardizing the color scheme on the site also?

Thanks for your input,
Darin

Thank You ImVickieB,

I used to have a bunch of keywords in my titles. I didn't see much change so I made them pretty basic. Maybe I should change them again.

Hyperlinking key phrases is probably a good idea.

"On the main page, for example, instead of hyperlinking "Find out how to tell the difference and keep your money at home." why not change this "Who has the cheapest rates" to "Who has the cheapest long distance rates" and linking that?"

Good point. On other sites I've read that would be good idea.

Hello Thought I would add a little to this debate on colour - green is for .....money that's right money so where is she going wrong if she chooses green? Its not the colour but the statement leading browsers into seeing what "we" need to see - and fast at that! No one is going to search your site past the 1 st phrase. Try something like - our site has done all the research to find you the best prices - click on anyone of the following to compare and save now!!
HOT HOT HOT our cell phone rates are the best.... and tell us about how we can save.

Advertisements are for the cheapie sites - don't be fooled - it does create an air of "cheapness"

YOU want people to go directly to the tables of information so they are in control of their savings..... that's is for now .
I will submit my site to see what everyone thinks...

Hi,

Your website is nicely compartmentalized but it seems that the main thing is to cater for two categories of user: people who know what they want and people who haven't a clue.

For the first category your website is fine.

For people who maybe don't know what type of connection to opt-in for, your website has some tools but they are not well executed in the interface. You offer a consulting service, for example, but when I click on that link I get just another set of options. Now, all that stuff that's in fine print is exactly the most important information for your unknowing customers.

Otherwise... the front page seems to ring a bell... have I seen just that design somewhere else?

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I'm sure you have seen some other website templates that look a lot like mine.

As for the "Do you want to save money?" link, yeah, I know it takes the person right to long distance. This site is more for long distance communication because thats where the residual income plays in. I think people are clicking that and looking for everything or clicking that and then not seeing what they are looking for and maybe backing out.

My website has some some great deals that can definately help people save money. In fact the cellular deals are awesome.

Also, please give responses on what you think of the products and services. Do you like what is offered? Would it really save you money?

Thanks again,

Darin Cawthon

If anyone is interested in an opportunity to make more money online or with a webpage or an existing site, give this a look. If you don't like selling but your interested in saving money on the services your already use then this is still for you. You can purchase from yourself and then make money on your self sales. This is a great program. http://www.lowermybills.tk/

I'm not asking for you to buy. Well if you want, don't hesitate. Seriously though, I haven't heard any ones opinion about this subject.

What products are keepers and what products just don't make the cut?

I don't want to waste people's time. If it's not a savings, please tell me.

hi
I saw the page and immediately clicked away because it looks identical to a few spammer pages that I actually had to click on to see if the site really existed since the "biz" was in the process of being sued by several corporations, but yet still receiving spam with various forged email addresses, which ironically allows the biz to be prosecuted because of the forgery. and when I saw the Florida location at the bottom, first thought again was spam -- which unfortunately is one of the top 5 highest sources of a major amount of spam, and that includes Korea, So. America and Comcast leading the list.

I also thought posting the page here "for review" was an attempt to generate new business and not actually a request to review the page, esp. since you didn't actually create the page yourself and are using a standard template, that I'm guessing was part of the service you paid for to become a reseller to "save others money", and not much you can do about the template anyway as it would be up to the service to implement changes. your posting quoted here above should have been used first as it coincides with my first instinct upon loading the page. but I could be wrong and biased since I'm in a spam/deceptive zone these days. ;o)

Tamra? *chuckles* You saw the page and immediately clicked away? Wow, you must think every site looks like spam if you don't stop read and/or listen.

On and on about this sueing and forgery. What are saying? Are you implying something?

Florida location at the bottom? What are you looking at and where did you see this?

Well your intitled to your opinion, whether correct or not. Your insticts are a little off on this one. Although this is a template and I don't edit all of it myself, I can if I chose to. I was really just interested in what others think, as should anyone that has a website. Whether it be a soley owned website, corporate or a simple affiliate program. It pays to know what others think!

See, if you took the time to listen you would know that it's a Totally Free Opportunity! Not much spam in a free opportunity. Not all cases but most SPAM asks you for money. I sure wish more people would tell me about the free things out there! Anyone want to save me some time?

Not everything is bad out there. I get spam all the time. If you setup your email correctly you won't have to worry about it so much.

I got burned recently for $85.00. I learned my lesson. I used my checking account and I didn't keep good enough records to get my money back with my bank. If I would have used my credit card I would have been fine. All I would have had to do was call them and tell them what happened. Just about every credit card company has your back now-a-days.

I really think your being too skiddish though. If you were to buy something from a total scam site and you used your credit card for the purchase and you didn't get what you were supposed to or whatever. The credit card company immediately credits your back your money and researches the situation. If your credit card company doesn't do that, then get a better credit company!

No one can tell me that my site is not 100% legit.

If your worried about something being a ripoff make sure you check out http://www.badbusinessbureau.com/ or http://www.ripoffreport.com/

You definately won't find SavingMyBills.com there!
