Default nice, could use final touches

nice site. good money in auction sites. might want to put some finishing touches on the layout and graphics, such as changing the gray color, and creating a new top logo.

good luck

Couple of things.

First off, it seems that, of your two td's that comprise the body of your site, the one on the right is a percent. Not noticeable on lower resolutions, but as the window size increases, so does that gray margin between the menu and the content. Not too big, but just something that might make the site better is tweaked. :)

What assurances of security are there? How do I know that I can 'bid with confidence'?

Did you remember to prune the HTML from the bodies of auctions to avoid malicious coding?

Just a couple of questions. :)

And also, there are almost no pictures on the site. We're a visually stimulated people. Text and graphics won't catch people's eyes, but a nice picture of a book just may inspire them to click it.

Hope this helps. :)

what would you change the gray color to?

and what do you suggest for an effective logo?

i have never been very good with design side of the web application...

i went ahead and changed the column on the left to pixels so doesn't move when you resize window.

good idea having a "bid with confidence" page.

i allow html on purpose so it can be used in descriptions to jazz them up. but yes, i do protect against any manner of malicious scripting.

good idea having pictures... i think i may make some small graphics to reside next to category names or something like that, don't know yet...

thanks all for the advice so far and keep it coming!!

Just a couple of comments, since it seems like others have addressed the various other issues I had:
- Why do you need to have "UniversityAuction.Net" three times across the top? It already appears in your logo, and it appears under the Navigation Bar and above the main body of the site as well. To me, this seems excessive.
- Is it really necessary to label the navigation bar as the "Navigation Bar"?
- Ditto for "Category Bar"
- The ASP and MySQL logos at the bottom of the page are distracting. If you must use the logos, I'd move them to an About Us page.
- You might want to add a disclaimer to indicate that eBay is a registered trademark.
