Default Materials Edge

Hi all,

We've been using this logo for a while now (after many months trying to come up with something..) It's mean't to be distinctive, professional but also modern, alluding to our modern fresh approach to recruitment. What do you think (it looks better on our website with a white background)?

You may want to check out the logo in context at our website: www.materials-edge.net

Thanks for your comments !

It is simple, clean, and says what you do -- the goal of a logo accomplished. Are the dots on each side of "recruitment solutions" for design or to indicate internet solutions? If for design only, I think they distract from your message. If for internet solutions, maybe only one before the word recruitment would be a clearer message.

That is my two sense worth.

Thanks for the reply slacagnina,

The dots are just there for design, but I take your point about them potentially being distracting.

We did the original logo without them but it looked a bit bland, so we put them in to differentiate the main 'logo' with the secondary statement of what we do.

However, we'll do some tests without them and see what we can come up with.

Thanks for your comments.

Default okay - not exciting

Your logo is okay, but not exciting. As soon as I saw your specialty was placement for metallurgical, geological, etc. I wanted to see something more like metal.

What about a metallic font color? or background?
like:

otherwise, the fonts are simple and identifiable.

drungilas,

...returning from the weekend..

Thanks for the reply. It's something we toyed with initially, but we didn't want to focus on metals as alot of our work is in composites, polymers etc.

It's a nice idea though and your logo looks good. I think if we redid our logo we'd need to get professional help as our attempts at quality logos with complex backgrounds haven't worked !

Also, I'd be slightly worried that logos with picture backgrounds could look a bit cheap..

We're try to capture our profesionalism yet convey our technology based and fresh approach to recruitment. It's difficult, but I like simple plain-ish logos that convey profesionalism. I realise that ours may be a bit boring, but it wont upset anyone!

What did you think of it in context on the website ?

I like what you've got going on here so far. I think the dots are just fine.
However I would explore 1 way to make it a bit better.

* It feels a bit like its not going to hold together -- like it is either too loose or too lite. I would try tightening things up just a hair, maybe it just needs the tagline a little closer to the name or maybe try a half point rule inbetween the two just the way they are. The spacing of the letters in "material" either need to be tad looser or a tad tighter -- it's at that point in the middle that drives me crazy.

Anyhow just my 2 cents.

gsdickson,

Thanks for the comments.

Point taken, and it's something we will probably look at. The logos a bit light and could do with a bit more solidity, but I don't want it overly heavy..

I'll try your suggestions and put some new trial logos on this forum in a few days..

Thanks
