Default Site displaying properly in IE6?

I have a newly launched site that seems to be rendering properly in most browsers. However, the client HAD been using IE6 on her laptop which did NOT render properly (nav tabs across top of page d/n show.) Unfortunately, she upgraded before I could figure out what the problem was.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Jannmirch,

There seems to be some major problems with IE 6 and the navigation. I use IE Tester to check between versions of IE for my websites. You should give it a try.

Take care,
Tim

IE6 does not take all the css commands properly in it.
if you have used display: block, in your css. make sure to change that to display: inline-block; for ie6 to have it show properly. and also ie6 adds up the margins and paddings to sub divs as well. so if the parent had a padding of 10px every child of that div will take extra padding of 10px within..

Thanks "past". I haven't had a chance to play around much with this yet so this will definitely be helpful when I do. The margins are more than likely the culprit.

Is there a simple workaround to avoid this issue?

unfortunately there isnt really a workaround it unless u design everything according to ie6.. or you basically stop supporting ie6 like lots of big websites are starting to do right now.

also keep in mind floats: if you are floating things. in ie6 the need a width as well
