Default Queensland Master Builders Association

I have recently joined this organisation and am currently developing a repositioning strategy. I would appreciate some objective reviews about the current logo. I will use the reviews as part of my communications audit research report.

Please visit:

http://www.qmba.com.au

The organisation represents 9,500 members in the building and construction industry (largely builders and sub-contractors). We provide information, products and services to help our members do business better. While there are other membership organisations we are the only one that represents both the housing and construction sectors. Recent research indicates that our key strength is the knowledge and expertise of our staff.

Please know I am acutely aware of just how bad our website it - in fact, it is quite embarrassing.

Regards

Hello Paula,

How long has the existing logo been is use and are the colours used the same as is used on your stationary?

I think the logo is generally quite clear although to me I can see room for definite improvements.

I can see a crest on the /// lines coming down. Is that an official crest?

If it is then the three /// coming down could be replace by a Q for queensland surrounding it with the tail of the Q coming under the Master Builders text and coming out into the word associatiation in smaller text.

What are the state colours? You may consider using them to lend credibility to the organisiation as most Queenslanders will relate to the state colours.

Just a few thoughts as you can see from above I do not have enough information to be really critical one way or praiseworthy in the other way. So I havejust put a little of what I think in.

And the site is not too bad, just needs a makeover to improve the navigation and you definitely need to work on the content. There is no way that I would join as I still have no idea how long you have been established, how many members you have etc.

But I diverge, back to the logo. I hope some of what I have said is helpful to your report.

Default Flame Design

While the small circular crest may belong on a seal or a legal document, it fails as a logo. It is much too complex to have an impact. The colors and layout look fine the way they are. The logo is reasonably balanced, legible, and has a logical flow. I am sure you can come up with an amazing visual element with the 3 blue planks. I can definitely see an 'M' shape emerging.

Best of luck with your report,

Grease
