You have a beautiful illustration on your site. Unfortunately, detailed illustrations usually do not make good logos. From a vistors perspective, each detail is an additional detail that needs to be remembered. Too many details and a visitor will make no visual connection with your site - and your visual identity is forgotten. For maximum impact you should consider stripping down your image to its crutial components. If you are able to do this, while still maintaining uniqueness, than you know you've done your job :)

The use of a JPEG, with its blotchy and undesirable artifact, is to be strictly avoided when formatting a logo, no matter how simple and limited in colors. As usual, grease's comments are right on, but I thought the file format issue worth mentioning. PNG or GIF (if you don't mind risking its use) are far superior.
