Hello, please check out my current logo at the top of my website - www.homeitguy.com. I would appreciate any ideas to convey my main idea without delving into the cliche world of tools overlayed on a computer. At this point I feel that any illustration that reflects my services would be a bit "busy", which is why I opted for this design. Thanks in advance!

Personally, I would ditch the shadow effect and shrink "IT" down just a little to the same height as the "H" in"Home". THEN I would like it.

Hi homeit,
Thanks for your post.
To be honest, I think your logo needs some work. I completely understand your concern when you wrote:

Your are right, this type of imagery is so overused that it has virtually no impact. But why did you feel restricted to those visuals - or the way in which they are displayed? Heading in the opposite direction (no visual) hurts the memorability of your logo, and the visual interest of your site. The logo on your site now gives more a 'title' feel to me than actual logo. Reduce the horizontal length, and work with colors beyond the standard issue - that blue and dark dropshadow will label you as an amateur. For your visual, get out a sketch pad and work with a stylized computer (or monitor alone) with a roof on top. Try to use as few lines as possible. People often try to be too literal with their logos. Remember, this can't look dated, so simple shapes always work better. Trust me, you can have an amazing logo here with that concept!
