I like it, it caught my eye. Portrays an energy smartness in the design elements (the green & gold). Not sure about the red star, but I presume that is representing somthing too?

That star... is it a sun?

Looking beyond the fade in the letters, subtle drop shadow and the green-white transition on the background it's quite a strong logo that would travel well to business cards, 2 colour, greyscale yes, but maybe not quite so clear on black & white, so that aint too bad at all :)

To me your colours are conveying spirit, earth and sun, is this what was intended? What does EnergySmart actually do? I know nothing about your company and will try resist looking at any links to go find out, even though I can see the name SolarDirect :), but I'm guessing it has something to do with energy conservation, being economical with power?

Default Flame Design

I think your on to something!
Reduce the number of colors to 3. If you must use gradients, do not make the lower transition black. Make it a darker tone of the same color above. Integrate the star a little tighter. Looks like an add-on the way it is postitioned. What does the ring represent? Nice choice for font contrast.

Take care,

Grease

Thanks for all the comments. I will pass them on to our designer. This is actually a masthead for a newsletter that we did in 4c print, and then made into a web design online. http://energy-smart.info The info is a bit outdated but still very pertinent given todays energy climate.

The star and the ring tie into other company logos that have the same basic elements. We market energy products and energy conservation. Other sites are listed below in my footer...

Default Loop

The loop looks loose. Tighten it up so it wraps more evenly under the text.
