Hey everyone. I've just finished a new logo concept for our travel website in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area. Please critique what we've done. Be brutual if needed. It's been 10 years and we never really had a good logo. So here's what we came up with:

You know what, I like it. However, I would make the tree look more like a palmetto. (subtle distinction, I know)

Not bad for a draft. I'd change the leaves on the tree to something a bit more realistic (don't like them as they are). That, and I'd alter the angular relationships between the swooshes a bit, tilt both the blue one and the brown one's together so there's a bit more white space beneath your text. Then maybe make the text taller (it looks too square-ish). The sun will appear to be a bit "higher in the sky" when you're done.

Just my opinion...

Good concept. But try to improve the palm tree, the water and the beach

Thanks guys. I was trying to come up with a different look for a palm tree because EVERYONE uses them around here. If I can come up with something else, I'd scrap the Palm Tree altogether.

How about a cartoon-like (pirate? captain?) sailor peering off into the distance using a telescope, instead of a palm tree. It fits in with the word "discover." Course, if he happens to spot the optional bikini clad pin-up girl lying on the beach nearby, who knows, any more new "discoveries" might have to wait 'til another day.
