Default needs a graphic

It is my opinion that all online service based businesses should have a graphic to associate with their text.

To be honest, I do not think you will gain any credibility with this logo. It appears as though you spent some time finding a fun font and applying embossing, glows, etc... but you skipped the most important stage, concept development. What sets your business apart from your competition? What is your postitioning strategy? What colors, shapes, and visuals represent your services? In order to develop a powerful, trustworthy, and memorable logo you will need to spend more time/money at the drawing table. Give it another shot, and I will be glad to review again.

Take Care,
Grease

Symbolize what you do to give your logo credibility.

Expertise (what you do) + trustworthy (how we believe you can do what you do through non-verbal design forms such as contemporary meaning "cutting-edge") = credibility = sales (or whatever you want to acheive).

Don't spend a cent on logo design if it will in any way impact your hosting prices. If you have Apache2 servers and the most current PHP module built-in, I'm going to suggest to my company that we completely get out of the hosting business and compel our customers to sign up with you.

Otherwise, grease and Bill have keenly developed skills and their comments are replete with excellent direct and between-the-lines advice. I wish our group would consider creating and using a bug that better represents what it is we do, and better expresses our mission. I'm going to strongly encourage everyone in our group to read this thread.

Hi tikanet,

This is the third post I saw in which your refer to a 'bug'. What exactly does this mean and how does it apply here?

Also, why would a logo design impact hosting prices? A symbol can reinforce any competitive position - cost, product differentiation, or quality.

Hi grease,

A bug, as I understand it, is a graphic attached to the text that states the name of an entity -- the logo itself. Your fire breathing dragon would be a bug. It may be an old or colloquial term. I think I first encountered it in some Marshall McLuhan treatise.

You suggested that ramg925 "will need to spend more time/money" on the a redesign of his masthead. Because his hosting prices are so low, I was just expressing the hope that, if he ends up having to increase his prices because he's spent money on a logo, I'd rather he forego the expense.

I apologize for not being more clear. I was guilty of the thing that I always complained to my kids that they tended to be as teenagers: vague. Nothing specifies like specificity. Sorry.

The new logo is a great improvement.

An idea to take in mind: say if you need to make the logo fit lengthwise across a page or piece of paper, then simply place the graphic left or right of your company name. Size it so it is the same or slightly taller height as the company name.

Hi ramj925,

I like your new logo. It seems to me that it is appropriate for what you offer and it looks great too. Clear & sharp - well done.

All the best.

Thank you for the advice. Will keep that in mind when I need to do that.

Try filling in the white space within the circle that encircles the dog. It reminds a little of a saucage as it is.

Wow -- them there's some cheap hosting plans. I may have to use your hosting service to see what it's like!

I like the logo of the dog, but honestly I think it should be tightened up a bit. If you were even to place the company name text to the right of the dog, it would be a much better use of space.

On a side note, aligning text left might make things look a bit better, rather than the center alignment you have right now.

Hey Guys :D

has anyone signed up with doggone technology?

I did a search on hostsearch.com for some good priced hosts and came accross this one.

ramj925, are you the admin at doggone technology?

i'm curious, i should send an email to the site, but i'd like to know if you have multiple backup servers?
a strong backbone, do the plans include static ip addresses...

you honestly have very good prices, but one must ask, why so good?

Thanks :)

I signed up with this hosting service not long ago with one of the cheaper plans. Last week my site wasn't loading from time to time, but this week it's been doing fine. I'm surprised at how many options are included in the package...I wish I knew how to use them all. I'm thinking of using the hosting service for another site I'm building.
