Default Something Missing

I am working on a simple logo for a Hacienda style apartment hotel. Client likes what is currently here, but wants more color, more red. This is what I have done:

So 2 questions...

Is there a way within PS that I can make the white/light lines of the pattern overlay a red?

And What is missing from this logo? What could be added or changed to give it a little more elegance and class? Make it a little more eye catching?

Thanks

Looks like too much white space... Either try the text on a 45 degree angle or maybe La Hacienda, Hotel and Apts. Hotel and Casino. Something like that.

I am not too hot on the colors.. can you make it more terracotta? Or is the color their color scheme?

Good luck,

Michael

I agree with too much white space. I also like the 45 degree angle idea.

Try making the type large, bold and red. I picture it in a script type. Angle the type so that it overlaps the arch. Bevel the type and give it a drop shadow to make it look like it's floating. Red would be good or even a gradient of red to gold.

Maybe lighten the color level or intensity of the archway too so that it's pushed more to the backgound.

I would like the archway to have some real depth too. It looks like planes floating, it'd be really cool if it looked like it went back in space. You could still have the drop shadow, but it would look more like blocks floating than planes floating.

How about some flower pots? Maybe even a cat? Then you can have some red and other colors, and it would be very attractive. It would also reduce the white space, or empty feeling it has now.

is this the orizinal size of the logo?
if yes, it will occupy more space.
if not, the words in the image look small in the reduced logo.

What type of red are you looking for? bright, brighter, dull, off red.

However if this is what your client likes I see no reason to make changes to it. If all your doing is the color red than add the red you want and show your client once again.
