Default Painten' Place

Hi everyone,

I'd appreciate your input regarding these logo options. It is for a local paint and wallpaper store.

The only real requirement is the paint roller.

Although I've got a little poll for this logo I have an open mide to make changes.

Thanks!

Default Flame Design

My apologies JHrobbin, but I think you may want to sketch out a few more ideas for this one. There are various fonts and photoshop-like effects, but I don't feel the makings of a strong logo.

It might help to design in Black and White and focus on shapes and emotional attributes first and worry about the colors/effects after.

If you decide to use a tag line, make sure the size contrast is signifant from the name. Try not to use so many lines - this cause the eye to wonder everywhere but where they should!

Do not use dark drop shadows, bevels, etc.. with dark fonts-it makes them looking blurry and difficult to read.

Try to integrate the paint brush in a different way. The large brush and text within can be restricting and does not distribute the importance of graphic element vs text very evenly.

I hope this helps,

Grease

jhrobbin,
I didnt realize what the image was until I saw version 4 with the words paint & wallcovering, I thought it was a neon sign with the cord hanging down. Maybe if you dropped the bevel & drop shadow on the paint roller it would look more like a paint roller. Hope it helps.

Like grease says there's too many wires in the roller, it needs to be simplified, plus all those effects don't add to the design.

If you go to Bill Haig's PowerLogos site there's a fantastic logo there for Housen Painting - I really like that logo and would definately be inspired by it if I were to be designing a logo for Painten Place.

Default got to agree with grease on this

drop shadows and gradients...
not the best thing for logos
rules of thumb for the visuals-
1) does is work in black and white? (no- not shades of gray)
2) does it read at 3/4 inch?
3) does it read on 10 foot banner that people see while driving by?

the concept is okay but the words will not read at 3/4 inch- so you will need to work on it a bit more.
There is a lot you can do with that roller that I don't see happening in your designs- have you tried a side view that will make it look like a "P"?
