Hi - I've put them all on a page at http://www.fourcornersproperty.co.uk/logos.htm for you guys to have a peek at.
If you would be kind enough, please leave your comments. And if you have a logo you would like me to take a look at, please just say, and I'll do what I can! (Please note, that while the site is 'up' online, it's still a work in progress so no reviews required of this at the moment!) Many Thanks, Darren. |

My take is logo 6. Though number 1 could be adapted to have the corners made bold, leaving the box.
I'm a great fan of logoType, and others may have differing opinions, but for me, 6 is the way to go

I vote number 8. Def number 8.
You could even incorporate the idea of the colours in 2 for some uses. I'm all for slight variation in logos for certain occasions, or even just a bit of flexibility. I change the colour of our parent company logo regularly to fit with the branding of each of its subsidiaries. I suppose you could use Google as a good example of logo variation (http://www.imediaconnection.com/content/7732.asp). There is a danger of confusing your audience, but when your brand is as powerful as Google you can play knowing that people will still easily recognise you. Sorry, I’m getting carried away… back to my point. I like number 8! Cheers Jude |

There didn't seem to be enough contrast for the letters inside the (now coloured) boxes - I've given each letter a white stroke/outline to try to contrast it more with the surrounding colour, still not sure it's enough though. Hi dharrison - thanks for the comments - same answer as above I suppose! You can see the new flavour here:- Hello WomenXtra - thanks for your vote! Anyway, here's variation No 9! ![]() All comments welcome, Thanks, Darren. |

Yeah, now you mention it, it does look like the Windows logo. Well if it’s worked for them...
Maybe people will think they have seen your logo before, or subconsciously associate it with Microsoft, and therefore trust you much quicker.... well, maybe. I do like 9, the white outline on each letter is definitely a good move, but I also still like the simplicity of 8. Sorry, I'm not really helping am I! Jude |

I like nr 8 better. I think the incorporation of the colors makes the logo too "busy". I like the simplicity of nr. 8 ...
Also, did you check how the logo works out in print, in B/W and on a fax machine? Nr. 8 wins hands down ... faglork |

I really like logo 9 without the colours - its clean and I feel the colours make it slightly too busy.

Got the number wrong - meant no 8!

Hello Daren,
I like both number 8 and 9. 9 is somewhat lively since it has colors so it definitely catches the eyes. 8 is good for printing and greyscale displays. I think you should use 9 for web and online displays and 8 for printing purposes. Tell me what do you think of the phpkb's logo at http://www.knowledgebase-script.com

Hi Chadhaajay, Yep - I got your link and have seen the logo. What I meant is: where on Webproworld is your post re your logo. I couldn't find it to post my comments. Had a look under your username, but couldn't find the relevant Post or Topic. If you haven't started a post re your logo, and you want comments on it, that's the best way to get feedback. Let me know where to go!

Thanks for your thoughts Marcie - the thought of T-shirts had crossed my mind, and maybe mugs now I think about it - what other items are on the 'corporate products/logowear' list? (If you've posted about this, please let me know, I'll read it! Sounds like something to bear in mind.)

Hi Darren,
Marcie's hit on a valid point. Should you at any stage decide to go for printed stationery, signage, clothing etc. then it's really important to 'think ahead' when designing your logo. If you go for your colour version (5 colours) then this would need to be produced using a 4 colour process, which entails making 4 sets of film & plates for every print job you require, which will quickly become quite expensive. If you do intend to 'go to print' at some stage then you also need to consider that at the moment the logo is made up of white outlines. To reproduce this on standard white paper/board etc. would entail printing a background colour for the logo to show through, which can cause you problems, as all other text, address details etc. would need a similar treatment. Personally, I would start with a white background and work from there. |

My initial thought was #8 - it's clever, but it's also a bit "fun" in nature. It depends on what the company is going for as far as branding. The logo looks professionally created but not as professional in nature. Is that the image you want? The other thing about #8 is that if you look at it too long the boxes start to float. #9 doesn't have that problem because the colors ground it. I say that, but I don't recommend #9. Our logo is currently 4-colors (3 + black) and it's a nightmare. Printing costs are more, you can only use it on certain background colors, etc. We're in the process of redesigning ours. Besides, take a look at the big-dollar companies who don't use 4-color logos > Coke, GAP, Target, HR Block, etc. There's a reason.
My vote is for #6 or #7, but maybe try it with the corners from #3 instead to give them a more unifrom look. ~Martink |

Thanks Martink,
Good info there, ta. Will avoid the four colours in terms of printing I think. That seems to be a problem with printing etc. Although it may have it's use at some point. I personally like number 6 a lot, although I think I prefer no 8. No 6 is a variation on the first (mock-up) logo I put on the site just to get a start really - and I like it's simplicity. It also looks a little like it may have come off a drawing-board with the corner marks, which I like. At the mo, I'm still going for number 8 - the site owner likes that one too. Thanks for the info M! D |

Just my two cents,
Most people spend about 2 - 3 seconds on a site. That is the time you have to explain what it is your selling and get them to stick around. Would it be better to have a logo that works with the name while also telling a little about the site? |
|
||||
|
Hi Janeth,
Thanks for your two cents...I'm a little stumped though...not really sure what you're trying to say - can you elaborate on your comments a little to enlighten me a little? Would be appreciated. While I'm here, I have a new logo - basically just a colour change as the owner of the business has said he likes it. I like it too, just after others' feedback on it now if anyone would be so good! Here it is:- ![]() Logo No 10! Thanks, Darren. |

My favorites are 8,9,10 (but they are the same).
Others are not appealing.

Hi Darren,
Let me see if I can do a better job. At this time if you look at the logo and nothing else you would have no idea what the site was about. What I was thinking and trying to say was that I thought it would be better if the logo told something about the site. Maybe a house with a string pulled from property stake to property stake. But your talking about a lot more work so if the client is happy just ignore me. (-; |

Hi Darren,
I think #8 is the way to go. Especially when you consider that it will print good (no four color process). I always keep that in mind when designing a logo. If you didn't want to go so simplistic on color (#8) you could chose one color with the white outline. (Logo #9 looks good, but a little busy). Good luck!! |

Hi Janeth,
Sorry, bit dim of me. I realise what you mean - in fact it was one of my first attempts at a logo for this site - just the outline of a house with roof - I'll see if I've still got it here buried somewhere....hold on....yep, got it, I'll just save it as a .jpg, upload and link to it from here... ![]() ...hope that shows okay. Unfortunately the owner didn't much fancy the route I was taking on this one, so it got scrapped. Shame, I'd have liked to pursue it a bit more as I thought it had potential. It definitely at least hints at house/builder/property stuff! Anyway, thanks for your comments janeth, much appreciated! Darren. |

Definitely the original number 8. Very definitve, clean and to the point. Not too busy either.

Thanks Jamie, Serious and Antimonkey! Still looks like Number 8 in the lead by quite a way here. I've also now designed the stationery to tie in with it, so have some work to do with getting that printed. Stationery will probably be in the green (logo 10) but logo 8 is definitely the favourite for the web.
I think in terms of being recognizable, the green and grey interchange well, as although the logo is grey on the website and green in print, the green is used on the website and it seems to be complimentary. I think the grey is a little less noticeable than the green in print, so that's the main reason there. Thanks again all, Darren. |

Thanks Jabber -
That's quite interesting - a different format again, thanks for the effort, but we've decided now on no 8 (and 10 - see below)! Parallel - yessss, think I'll leave Illustrator for the moment then! Tim - yes, we have decided on number 8 now (the grey one) for the website. Number 10 was chosen to be used on the letterheads/comp slips/business cards - I'll see if I can post some thumnail images to the website of the stationery for you guys to see when I upload the new logo. At the moment we're in major renovations refurbishments extensions and loft conversions at home, so a bit manic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it will go live soon..... Thanks again guys! |

As I promised, I am loading links to the finished Business Card, Letter Head and Compliment Slip now.
Took a while getting there, but hopefully worth it in the end. I think we produced something worthwhile in the end, and while it's never 100% 'finished' (always seems to be something else that you want to improve or tweak...) it was agreed this was good enough to run with for the time being. As ever, if anyone has any suggestions at all for improvement or just a general comment, feel free to let me know! The Business Card: ![]() The Comp Slip: ![]() The Letterhead ![]() Thanks for all the feedback along the way guys - it really helped the process along to come up with a finished product I'm very happy with. Regards, Darren. |

I like this design but it may be better if the colors were reversed: the text and graphics in green and the background in white (or clear). When incorporated into your business card, letterhead, et al., it seems imbalanced and weighted due to the heavy use of background green.
