Don't care for either one. Does not look right. Not what I thought of when I look at the logo and the text below.

Spectur,
First, I really like the concept of the headset on the globe. Since your logo deals with telecom industry, I think a bit more modern and sleek. I would suggest starting with a sans-serif font and avoid using all italic text. You could also make the TELEPHONIC text larger than both NETWORKS and INC, since they are generic phrases and not defining words.
If you are allowed, you might want to consider that since most telecom companies go by their initials, you could incorporate "TCI" within or outside of the globe and spell the entire name conservatively under the actual logo.
Also, perhaps the headset needs to be a tad bit more instantly recognizable. (The first time I saw it, I thought it was a plane encircling the earth.) I would make it more iconic and limit it to one or two colors maximum. So in your case, the globe could be hollowed so that the eye travels quickly down to the text. Just a few suggestions, I hope that some of them might have helped. :)

The font needs to be a trendy sans serif style; the font you're using looks very dated and is not appropriate for an identity relating to technology.
The headset on the globe is too thin - not enough contrast and weight to stand out over the globe.

Looks similar to the gameshow logo. Difference is you've used a globe rather than a face - probably wasn't intentional. I'd try and make it more simple - you want someone to look at the logo and have a good idea of what it's representing.

What's going to happen if you ever need to put it on the side of a truck or advertising? Try enlarging it to 20 inches across...
(Logos really need to be designed in vector) :)

In short, the vector format is a mathematical method of plotting a design which relies on nodal points, arcs and lines rather than a mass of pixels (which also takes up more memory and disk space). Consequently, any vector image can be reduced or enlarged without any loss of quality - from a matchbox to side of a 747!
It's the industry standard method of creating logos and in fact most artwork. Photoshop and similar programs are, funnily enough, for editing photos!
From the original vector file, the design can then be output to any graphics format required including Photoshop (.psd), Illustrator (.ai), Encapsulated Post Script (.eps), jpg, .tif, gif, pdf etc...
Please see http://www.eagleimagery.co.uk/0ther.asp for further details :)

This logo is an initial draft ( yes I plan to do it as a vector).
