This is my first attempt at creating a logo.

We refinish bathtubs, tile, and sinks. My question is; Should I start over? Change the colors? Change the layout? I think the size of it on my site isnt right. Hi Sem,

Your logo is cute illustration, but to be perfectly honest with you, it does not do much for your credibility. You have 29 years of experience! Your logo should reflect that :)
Here are a few tips that might help:

1)Priorize your text - your company name should be larger than your tagline.

2)Recreate your visual with fewer lines - if your are going for 'professional' than I might reconsider the cartoon character. But if you are selling your humerous self more than your work than leave it in.

3)Your colour palette is not visually appealing (in my opinion) Bright yellow suggests caution - especially against black (pants). The pink text and salmon colour on the tub clash.

4)The circle logo is difficult to work - unless your are designing a t-shirt, seal of approval, or official patch. A standard placement is left visual/right text or top visual/text below. There are certainly exceptions, but if you are new to this - this is the easiest way to go.

5)Make sure your background image colour matches your website colour - even the slightest shade of difference will make your visiters itch.

I think I understand the basics. When you say "less lines", does this mean less pixels or resolution? I know the cartoon doesnt say much as far as experience, should I use a more realistic visual?
Any design ideas would be appreciate, as I'm at a loss to ideas.

Caution - Turn on your popup stopper

Hi SEM,
Currently, the standard on-screen resolution is only 72dpi. At 72dpi, your logo is 2540X1451 pixels - this is extremely large! You have nothing to gain by created a large file and then scaling it down. Your logo ends up looking 'squished' and the load time is way longer than necessary.
Your logo is starting to look better. Consider the following:
1)Make your text solid - those swirls in your letters are distracting and take away from the strength of your logo.
2)Try stacking your letters in other ways. The long horizontal shape ends up looking more like a title than a logo.
2)Consider a high-impact typeface. The sans serif you are using looks somewhat plain.

I'll repost when I make these changes.

I used your tip and stacked the letters. I also reduced the dpi to 72. I'm not crazy about the font, but I like the stacking affect.
