Agree with Eagle Imagery post in all regards, with the one note that you do have a black single-pixel border around the green bit on your site... but it still falls a bit flat...
I would think perhaps you might consider making the "V" a part of a logo that goes "[V]anguard" at least for the web, as otherwise it looks awfully lonely over there. Cutting into the "V" a little to get less of a triangle and more of a, well, "V" shape would also be my recommendation.
I think moving away from that black-background header would also be a good idea, just in the spirit of making a literally "lighter" feel to the site. A client I work with, Veracity, has had some similar logo thought/design with their "V" - you may want to check their logo out, and see if it inspires any new ideas?
