Default Internet Market - Search Engine Logo.

I would like to make a better version of our logo.
Please feel free to tell me what you think.
Our site is a worldwide search engine for all markets and languages. This is illustrated with the world image.

What about a mascot, any idea? How about the Midgard serpent?
I want to keep it clean and simple!

Check out our site www.internetmarket.com

In it's self the logo is very attractive, but your website has a grey background and you logo has a white one, this contrast stands out as unprofessional, other than that the log is very good.
Well done!

If by the Midgard Serpant you mean this repulsive character,

I'd suggest against it.

I highly recommend against using the imagery of the midgard serpent. Click this link for a quick bit of background on the story as I am familiar with it.

Jormungand, the Midgard Serpent

This is not exactly the imagery that I would want to associate with my business.

On a personal note, I have found the use of a globe in logos to be too common, and unless you are careful, you may not be able design a logo that is unique enough to have visitors recognize it. Maybe if you use the globe as a secondary image in your logo, or as part of a composite image, you may have better luck.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your replies!

I agree that the logo should not be white against the gray background, and a new version of it is out now.

Regarding the serpent, I saw a logo posted here somewhere with a nice silvery dragons head. I liked it very much and thought that was something we migth use. I figured since the midgard serpent streched around the world, this could be used as a parallell to our worldwide directory. I agree that it may be somewhat repulsive... I would have wanted a simplified nice serpent streching over the logo biting it's own tail.
Or do you feel that it is a too agressive/ negative mascot?

I also agree that the globe may be too common, but it is the first thing popping into my head when I try to think of something to illustrate us being a worldwide directory.. Any ideas of other mascots/ symbols that can illustrate our worldwide presence?

While pondering a suitable logo for your business, I kept coming back to the combination of storefronts (suggesting a marketplace) and the globe (suggesting worldwide presence).

Originally it was a vision of the storefronts (maybe 3) bursting out of the globe. This still seemed rather generic, so upon further reflection, I came up with an idea that might work better.

How about the look of a plaza (open air mall with storefronts) with a map image on the floor? With proper perspective this might work for you. YOu may find that the concept is too busy and want to stylize and simplify the different components.

If I come up with any other ideas, I will be sure to pass them on.

Hi Ardeona,

In my opinion your logo needs a new face. The globe is becoming very cliche - I've reviewed more globe logos in this forum than I care to mention. The fact that your search engine is international doesn't really necessitate a 'global' visual at all. Almost every webpage is a global webpage. Dig deep to find out what makes your search engine different from everyone else and brainstorm an original logo that represents your image.

I have a feeling this is our company logo that you are talking about. I think you need to really sit down with a drawing pad and sketch out an orginal concept/mascot ;)

Hi Grease.

Yes it was your logo I was thinking of...

However, I see that most of the biggest companies on the internet do not have either a mascot or an advanced graphics logo. They mostly use a unique font and thats it. (see yahoo!, google, ebay ..)
Some use a simple graphics detail also. (see amazon)

I am thinking maybe I should concentrate on finding a special font prior to changing the world image?

True, there are certainly top players with very simple logos - and they also have the advertising $$$ to back them up. Without such powerful exposure you must be more creative.
Also don't confuse simplicity with 'easy to create'. A simple, professional logo is much more than a special font!
