Default International Roots Company Logo

Can you tell me how I can make this logo more useful.

or large:

I like the logo, but it says nothing of selling art.
I spent so much time creating it that it hurts just thinking about it :(

Thanks for any tips!

This is a beautifully detailed illustration, and a piece of fine art could be very well appropriate for your line of business.

The concerns I would have:

- The text portion would not reproduce well in black & white, especially not over mediums like fax. One way to quickly test this: If you made every pixel in this logo black, could you still tell what it is?

- The text is hard to read. Even on a billboard from a distance, you'd have trouble making it out. And how about a person with poor eyesight?

- The way the text blends visually with the roots reminds me a lot of cobwebs, or sinew, or blood dripping (by shape, not color). It gives the text that old-world creep-show feel to it. Not sure if this is the effect you want. This may just be me too - other people may recieve it differently based on their background & experiences.

- If cost-saving is a priority, this is probably not the best logo for you. If you want to print in color, you'll have to go 4-color. This logo may also present a challenge with printing on some promotional items like mugs, etc. Mug transfers, Silkscreen, embroidery and similar processes would present a significant challenge with this logo. In the end it depends how you see yourself promoting this logo and presenting it to the public.

On the positive side, the concept behind the logo is clear, and goes with your name well.

One thing you may try is to simply move the logo text off of the image, and place it below, or wrapping around the earth (depends on your tastes).

This will solve the readability problem, but allow you to keep this wonderful illustration.

I really like the tree. The world is to symbolize international. Roots of the tree symbolize ? Getting back to the roots of art? International Roots Art Commissions?
Being that you are selling art, I would use a different look for symbolizing what you are. Something that would intrest a art collector or clearinghouse instead of something so easy to guess.
INTERNATIONAL ROOTS COMPANY
fine art clearinghouse
The text should be very professional. The art should be smaller and less, how about taking that world in half, drap the roots over the bottom, reaching out to the text, do you think that might work for you.
Even if you don't use the suggestions, it is always good to get a fresh look at something you have been working on hard and clear the cob webs. Consider that you will most likely use the logo in print and web, so first make either on papers, or an illustrator program and then it can be used in many mediums. Good luck, your on the right track.

Default Thanks

Thank you so much for the help. I am going to take it all into consideration, and maybe post a revised version of the logo. i didn't really understand the cutting the world in half, but I'll think about it some more.
Thanks!!!!

Please ignore the watermark sketch. I used the back of something I was sketching prior to draw it up.
