Keyword Ordering and Hyphen Usage in Domains I am working with a legal group that wants to aggressively target some keyphrases for their locality. We are playing around with registering the keyphrase-rich domains and creating a one, two or three page subpage for each domain. The content will be different from the main website, so we won't have to worry about duplicate content. What is your experience with the following variables?

Marketing Problem I am trying to sell a single item (a website). I can find buyers for sections of this website, even though the sections will probably not work in isolation. I can find buyers that want to change the current format even though I have clearly demonstrated that what the buyer intends to implement will not work.

What Would You Charge For This Type Of Site? OK, so I am one of "those", the part time guy who has a little skill with PHP ad MySql who dabbles. A used car dealer in town asked me to develop a new site and find new hosting. He was very displeased with his old developer who was also hosting the site.

New To Freelance - What Do I Charge? I have a good 2 year background in SEO, and have worked on a number of 'freelance' projects over the last year. However, these have typically been for friends and colleagues websites and were done on the basis of mates rates, favours owed etc.

International Website Strategy A client of mine needs to promote his business in different countries. I have some questions, which will hopefully shed some light on the best strategy to use. 1. Should he set up seperate web hosting for each website in those countries and use the TLD in order to get listed in those countries' search engines?

What Would You Do? Purely hypothetical. A friend of mine brought this up. Let's suppose you're a school teacher. You start an online business to supplement income. Let's say it's selling widgets. In a few years the business takes off to 6 figures a year.

Negative Blog Content? How Wise? We run a highly rated blog which has been successful in building our clients' trust in our product and does very well in google for search times we write about. We have just had a very negative experience with a web designer whom we hired to build a website for a client of ours In fact, we feel like that the designer is a complete fraud.

Twitter and Social Networking Useful for SEO?? A while back I read some interesting research into how sites such as twitter, sphinn and ecademy are increasingly being utilised by businesses to drive traffic to their sites. I can see how sites such as ecademy, with its business networking structure, can be used to increase awareness of your business and therefore drive traffic to your site.

You Need To Listen It has been quite a while since I posted here. This is by far my favorite website for web design and development. Anyway let's get to it. Yesterday, I had an issue with eBay that they just, well, blew off. I don't want to get into a rant here so that is all that I am going to say about my issue with eBay other than they had me so frustrated last night that I decided to do something.

Suggestions Wanted For Graduate Directory Software I'm looking for suggestions about open source solutions that can meet a specific set of needs.
I manage a website for a small specialty college. We already use several open source solutions for various functions, such as osCommerce shopping cart, Coppermine Photo Gallery, phpBB forum and WordPress for blogging.

Maintaining Rankings After a Domain Cease and Desist My company runs a main website from which we sell our products, and we also have several niche sites dedicated to specific products. These niche sites tend to be fairly successful, dominating the SERPs for every possible keyword we could think of. For example, we are a reseller of, um, Widgets, which are the brand name.

Show The Price For High Valued Goods On My Site? You sell a unique high value product or service targeting a specific sector or industry. You have a concern that if you display the price you might put off a customer. So should you leave the price blank and trust that they will call/email?? Or does this just put them off as they wanted to research pricing using the web?

How To Allow Other Websites To Update Our Information I am programming a website for real estate's agents. In this website each agent (about 30) can publish the property they are managing from a private section of this common website. Of course some of those agents have already a website on their own. I have been asked to find out a way so they don't need to reenter each property on this common website. That sounds fair enough.

Linking Four Web Properties The Right Way I have five web properties (I'll call them that). I have two sites that sell the same products Site A and Site B and one that sells a totally unrelated product line, Site C. I have two stand alone Blogs. One Blog is related to Site C and links to the site on the side navigation bar and sometimes within the body of a post.

Protection of Listings vs Indexability In a previous post, I received some great advice about helping our local stores get ranked. Helping our retailers rank in their town.
It turns out the best solution was to have a single html page for each store with optimized text, proper META tags, etc.
