Long-tail Keyword Set Strategies
So basically, as the first part of my strategy to take advantage of long-tail keyword searches, I discovered the top searched keyword(s) in the industry I'm working with (a client site), then added those top searched keywords to Google's keyword tool and found a nice sized list of long-tail keyword clusters related to the main keyword I was using...

Problems with IE Rendering
I am running into a problem on a site redesign I am doing with getting the page to render the same in both IE as well as FireFox. I was given the diced up version of a Photoshop file which had been converted to an html document. The html uses mainly css with div tags which I assume would the the better option over tables but once I started to pluging in dynamic content from a backend database, it "broke"...

Bookmarks/Favorites, and typed-in URLs
I've got a question for some of the more experienced out there. These days, a lot of us use our Favorites/Bookmarks to get to the sites that we visit often. I have hundreds of bookmarks, some of which I use once a week or so. I also have over a hundred set up on my FF speeddial, that I use almost daily. Obviously, using those links can't pass any juice, but do you think the SEs' algorithms give them any consideration whatsoever, in determining site popularity or authority? Does pure traffic enter into the equation...

Did Yahoo Lie? Apparently Yahoo Still Supports the Meta Keyword Tag
So the writer at SearchEngineLand.com wrote a previous article telling us that Yahoo quietly dropped support for the meta keyword tag but he did a test: he placed the following text into the keyword meta tag of the home page for searchengineland.com - xcvteuflsowkldlslkslklsk - he did a search for that string on yahoo and found no results, but he searched the string again on yahoo, yesterday and his site came up #1...

Press Releases Better on Separate Domain?
On our site, we are currently posting news articles and press releases on a subdirectory of the primary domain (i.e. The Latest Product News from Manufacturers Worldwide - Zycon). Is it actually beneficial to place these releases on a subdomain (like news.zycon.com) or a separate domain entirely...

Putting valuable links in posts or at list archives
Putting your valuable links that you want followed and indexed in posts or at email list archives: if they use rel=nofollow for http, use the http prefix or no http prefix? I've been wondering how SE bots treat links that are from email lists that are archived online, and also any links that are at forums. Many places will use the rel=nofollow tag, but will not use it if the link does not have the http prefix.

Flash, Progressive Enhancement and Google
While this may be an ancient topic exhausted ages ago, I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask a couple of "what is right with google" questions. My interest is devoted to the issues to be associated with SEO for Flash. The most viable practice here as of now seems to be progressive enhancement, which is basically providing an HTML version of the SWF content for search engines and/or people with Flash disabled in their browsers...

I have a 3 word domain with dashes between them as so: my-domain-name . com
will search engines consider this spammy? will it hurt my SERP? I don't intend to tell anyone this domain over phone, nore do I even intend for someone to type this domain in their address bar. I don't really care if anyone remembers this domain or not, it's not a name of company or brand or whatever, and I already own mydomainname . com...

Will slight alterations significantly hurt your SEO?
We used to rank 4th and 5th on our most valuable keywords. One day we made a change to the content in our landing pages. These were little changes like changing half a dozen words from one to another. eg - we changed the word "village" to "community" and these words had no relationship to our targeted keywords. My point is, 2 weeks after these changes, we dropped in our ranking from 4th and 5th down to 9th and 10th...

Age hurdle
I believe that old domains which are constantly updated with either new products or new information have an advantage over new domains in terms of high ranking. Are we agreed? I think it is a good way of filtering through serious websites/companies so that every tom, dick and harry who has a good idea doesnt make a website today and its straight to the top of the list tomorrow...

Still frustrated and not giving up...
I know this must be going against a code of ethics in the forum but I'm reposting anyway because of this CSS bug that I am having in IE7. Here is where I am at: still can't center content in IE7 and I do have a doc type at the top of my html page...

Regional SEO Techniques. How fast do you see the results of your SEO efforts?
Interesting. I knew the following example would be the result. A client asked us to get them found for "(car brand name) sales (city)". I was asked by my team mates to bring the guy up. Ethics of knocking-off a competitor
A company was founded which looked at a new market where there was alot of growth. A B2B software as a service (subscription based web-application) offering was identified. There are a few competitors in the field. The company essentially used the best competitor as a "model" and copied most of the features. BUT - specifically re-created the interface, all the text, images, etc. The application looks different and nowhere does the app attempt to mislead the user that they are using the competitors product...

Well Optimized Website Can't Convert Traffic into Sales?
I am working for a client that has an ecommerce site (www.accessorygenie.com) and have been optimizing the site for the last 6 months. We have nearly 300 unique visitors daily, all of which are targeted and have landed on the pages they are looking for.
