Adsense On My e-Commerce Site I am considering adding adsense to my e-commerce site, www.bathgems.com. I understand the negative aspect of putting competitors ads on my own site but here are the counter arguments. 1) most people find my site through search engines so it is not like they aren't looking elsewhere anyways 2) related to the above, I am not afraid of competition, my products and prices stand on their own and the visitor is either a buyer or they are not, 3) sales have hit rock bottom since the economy came crashing down for the last six months so whats the loss anyways?

Spammers Break CAPTCHAs, Exploit Social Networks Spammers have evolved to perpetrate some pretty complicated schemes to get their wares (and warez) to large audiences. Recently they've shown sophistication beyond simple mailings by breaking CAPTCHA codes, enlisting decoy social networking sites and blogs, and even some search engine optimization."

Experiencing HTTP Based DDoS Attack My site has not been accessible for 4 days now, the message from the provider stated; "The server is under a severe HTTP based DDoS and there are roughly 400-600 connections from random IP's coming up. We are blocking everything as it comes in. We have entered your server in behind our DDoS protected network."

Problem In Sitemap Submission Recently due to a problem in "Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator for WordPress plugin", my blog post is shown as
http://www.onlinedownloads.org/diary...ovie-releases/ instead of
Download Full Movies For Free Plus New Movie Releases.
It shows that the category name is dropped. Due to this Google Webmaster Tools reported that there is an error ... as the urls were not found.

Catastrophic Server Failure I'm concerned about what will happen to my page rankings in the search engines so I feel that this question is actually a SEO question. Maybe I'm panicking a little but this is our sole source of revenue: The situation:- My server (shared) - which carries a very popular 7 year old website with the best possible google rankings I could have - currently has a major hardware failure and the company's engineers are trying to fix it.

Is Our Website Google Unfriendly? I am wondering if the reason for our site's dip in SERPS from GG may be due to this issue I ran into or not? If I type my site into Google Search and look at the "page caches," there is no side navigation bar. I hoped that one of you SEO experts might have a look and advise.

Unusual Website Traffic I have a website that is 5 years old and has progressively grown over the years. The past couple years has been pretty predictable with the customer ordering pattern. We get 4-6 orders per hour throughout the day and 2-3 through the evenings and night.

Good Practice, Doorway or Spam I am currently going through the process of making my website live. Basically it's a portal with over 500 subscribing pub and bar websites. One particular pub manager has his own domain name example greatpub.co.uk but has never built a website and wants to know if he could redirect the domain name to his domain name on the portal so that greatpub.co.uk opens a website like this Pub Website on my domain.

How Do You 301 Redirect A Dynamic URL? One of my webpages has been hijacked, and of course as always
google has rewarded the hijacker by REMOVING my top ranked 10
year old URL from their index and then ADDING the bogus URL in
their index, which shows for no searches!

A Better Line-Through? I'm working on a website, like a lot of websites, that has a line-through for the MSRP (retail price). I'm having a problem with the line-through over the number 8, sometimes causing it to look like the MSRP is less than our price.

Are We Hosting This Site Or Not?? This is a bit strange... we used to host a website for a company, and I'm not sure if we still do - we were getting out of the hosting business, concentrating on other things instead.
When I do an IP lookup on the company's website address, it does point to an IP address within our range. So I went onto our webserver (we host a small number of websites), went into IIS and it's in there.
