How To Change The Web Host I did this expensive course on Website building with a certain company (very good) and had my first site built with them. They provide the hosting, and the graphics, and a WYSIWYG editor for me. Works all very well. Problem: I have to pay $39.95/month for this site to be hosted there, and I earn not even a third of that from the site yet. So I want to switch to a cheaper host (I have got D9 in mind).

Linking Commonly Owned Domains Our business has several differant products (tours) which although similar, all operate in differant locations independently of each other, they are essentially all little busiensses doing their own thing. We'd like to look at selling off a few of the tours in the future and want to give each one it's own domain name, in total we'd have 11 domains, each with it's own hosting etc.

Optimizing Website Structure And Folder Names A customer has asked me to optimize a website that has a problematic physical structure. The home page is a splash page that gives the visitor the choice of three aspects of the customer's work. This page is the only page in the root directory. Each of the three aspects of the customer's work is in its own folder inside the root, and each has an index.html page making each of these aspects seem like a mini-website with its folder.

Duplicate Content Across Different Country Domains I work for a company with 9 different websites. There are 5 English Language websites (for US, Canada, UK, Ireland & Australia) plus French, German, Spain and Italy. We sell the majority of our 2,800 products across all of our websites. With the exception of different phone numbers, different email addresses - the pages (especially product pages) are practically the same across all 5 english language sites.

Page Traffic Detracts From Main Web Theme Can anyone help! I added an optimised important dates calendar page to my gift box website thinking the information would be useful for website users to find Mothers Day dates, public holidays with non delivery etc and developed it further upon request from the public with a free art calendar download.

Inner Pages High Rank, Homepage Nowhere! We've got an issue with a client's website which we initially thought may be a temporary blip but has now been affecting the site for around 2 months (since 26th July) and the client is understandably more than a little concerned now.

Threatened by SEO Company I've had 2 phone calls now from an SEO Company, who I will not name at this stage. From what I can gather they are a decent size (certainly they claim to be). I have told them each time that I am not interested in their service. I have examined the link profile of several sites they SEO and it would appear that the links come from basically a spam network of very low quality sites, all of which run from the same template and most of which do not appear to be even indexed by google.

Google Started Indexing, I Wasn't Ready I've been putting a new web site together and uploading the progress to the domain so that my copywriter can see it. One day my copywriter mentioned that we were on Google's first page with a certain keyword. Seeing as there were only two of us viewing it at that time, and no other sites or people were aware of its presence.

SSL for Site on a Different Server We have our standard company website, say XYZ, which is hosted on our own server. Now we're teaming up with a partner company whose products we re-sell, and we're going to avail of their online store facility. It will be branded with our look and feel, but hosted on their server, and the url will be shop.xyz.com.

IE6 And Earlier Issues Okay, small problem on a site I just completed: In IE7 and FireFox the site displays correctly... primarily the navigation menu. However in IE6 (and previous I would assume) it displays the menu as a vertical list as opposed to the horizontal style the it should be.

Search Engine Traffic And Server Migration Last week all my websites were migrated to a new server, a better server, there were a couple of glitches and the sites were down twice for a twelve hour period each time over a few days. Since the day they migrated, traffic on two of the sites has dropped from 3000 uniques a day, to under 1000 a day, which is a bit devastating.

Google & Feedburner Email Distribution After getting two blogs set up on nicely-formatted and branded email distribution with Feedburner (better look-feel control than Feedblitz), they both suddenly stopped going out. The Feedburner help forum has quite a few similar questions, asking "How do we fix this?"

Google Chrome Security Vulnerabilities Google Chrome Beta has been available for a few days, and hackers and security analysts have apparently been quite busy picking it apart. The following is a summary of known, confirmed and in the wild vulnerabilities that the current build of Google Chrome is affected by: Carpet Bombing: Google Chrome uses AppleWebKit/525.13, the same build of WebKit that is used in Safari, which has been demonstrated to...

Google Adsense Account Goes To Zero Suddenly I've been experiencing almost double traffic to my website and consequently my google adsense account has been experiencing a gradual increase in revenue--a steady rise in traffic and adsense revenue has been noticed. Today, I see $0.00 revenue in my account over an 9-hour period, which doesn't seem likely at all.

Multi-Language Site Strategy One of my clients has an English site ranking well for all it's main terms. It's been live for about 5 years and doing excellent. They are an international company and have reps working in many different countries, but now want to set up a Spanish language website targeting Mexico.

Duplicating Content First, a big thank you to all the posters on this forum. I'm in the early stages of applying some of the knowledge I've got from here - my new optimised web site has just been submitted to Google sitemaps - I'll post back here with the results in the future.
