Search Engine Submissions I am rapidly coming to the conclusion (confirmed in another thread) that submitting sites to search engines is often counter productive. In the past I did this as a matter of course every 6 months or so, using software to do this for me. In the early days it worked! No longer!!! I suspect it's not worth the time and effort.

Google Penalty? I recently re-designed a site for a client. They originally had simple pages with about 20 products on each page and PayPal buttons. They wanted something they could add products to themselves, so we went to a shopping cart format. They had a page rank of 3 on the main page, and also a three on a secondary page.

Designing Websites For Small Screen Portables A while back I purchased a .mobi domain for an information site I have. I haven't done anything with it yet, however with the huge difference in screen resolutions currently available I am toying with the idea of putting together a strictly mobile information site.

Using YouTube To Get Hits I own a casino gambling site which is difficult to promote because the keywords (roulette, UK online casinos etc) are very popular and therefore expensive in Adwords etc. I've noticed some You-tube videos showing in search result that are basically ads for competitor sites.

Sandbox And com Vs info Is there any difference about getting into sandbox and the domain name? In particular - are .info domain names more likely (with all other factors included) to get into the sandbox - and .com domain names less likely? I have a list of possible hypothetical explanations for PROs and CONs, but would like to hear what you had in your experience.

What About The Monitor? I must be still under the rock.... Recently I went to a client to discuss website development and they showed my websites up on a who know's - 60 inch horizontal screen and also on a laptop with a horizontal screen and I was horrified, intrigued, curious and then back to horrified.

Adsense Not Showing On Site I've had an adsense website online for the past year or so. For some reason the adsense ads are not showing up. I'm not banned and never have been. I have many other adsense sites up that are showing ads. My keywords have plenty of adwords competitors and adwords clicks. My adsense pub number is correct. I have no messages from Google that this site has any problems with it. I even rebuilt the page.

Site Migration Question I have a globally accessed (with UK bias) site with a .com domain name. The site is expanding to include country specific content. The plan is to use the domain name.com/uk for UK specific content, .com/us for us specific content and .com/au for Australia sprecific content and do a geoIP redirect for the specific country of access.

Client Management & Billing I am trying to locate an affordable and easy to use program that will automate my client accounts. Primarily I forget to bill my clients when their accounts (Hosting & maintenance) are due. Most are on PayPal subscriptions but get upset if they are not reminded before PayPal processes the subscription. Because of this they cancel the PayPal subscription and ask to be billed by invoice..

Page Size And Loading Speed - SEO benefits? Does the size in kb of a page give any benefit to search engine ranking? The reason I ask is that I am in the process of re-designing my site using CSS and this has much smaller page sizes than I had before, obviously I am keeping my content but whereas a page in my site would have been perhaps 100k before - it is now 30k with the same content - I was worried that google would see this as a dramatic change...

Site Almost Disappears From Google I've been struggling with one particular site for months. The site is about 3 years old; I redesigned it last winter. First it bounced around a lot, randomly moving around from p1 Google to p7 and points in-between, and until today seemed to have settled in on page 5.

Problem With Google UK Ranking I live in UK and have a page hosted in US. Church website design
which does well in appropriate keyword searches on google.com. However, for many users in UK, their google search defaults to google.co.uk and on that, for the same keywords, my ranking is very much lower.

Client's Product Released As Free Download I discovered this morning that one of my client's commercial products has been released as a free download on a bit torrent site. Now it seems to me the obvious solution is to contact the bit torrent site and demand that they remove that download from their site. Unfortunately these scumbags have it set up so that the only way you can contact them is to pay their registration fee.

Google Doesn't See Its Own Indexed Pages Today I decided to check an old article of mine that was submitted to EzineArticles over a year or even 2 years ago.
I type into Google the title of the article - everything is fine, Google has indexed the page. But then I copy (from the Google's results) the URL of this page, paste it into Google search - it does not see the page with that URL.

Google And Cloaking Cloaking: Serving different content to users than to Googlebot. This is a violation of our webmaster guidelines. If the file that Googlebot sees is not identical to the file that a typical user sees, then you're in a high-risk category. A program such as md5sum or diff can compute a hash to verify that two different files are identical.

Client Wants Me To Buy Him Links One of my clients has a 6 month old site which sells office chairs. He wants to be number one for... office chairs! and isn't really bothered about much else. He doesn't pay a huge amount for SEO, so he doesn't get much work/time from me and getting him a top ten will take a long long time. Even longer when you consider that he's not prepared to give me anything with regards to content and input.

Keyword To Page Association Anybody know about keyword to page association in Google? What do I mean? Suppose you're ranking in position 3 and you really want to rank number 1 for your keyword phrase. But the 2 pages that rank above you are ranking there only because of the authority of the site, not because of the content of the page it self.

A Site Is Redirecting Traffic To Me I noticed that a site which has a similar name to mine has apparently closed it's doors and is now doing a redirect to my site and sending traffic to me. I don't know why they are doing this but I am afraid of multiple domain names in the google index. Their site is listed with google as a page rank 3.

Promoting A Single Blog Entry So my company received a very favorable review on a well known blog. Currently this review is ranking on the first page for my primary keyword. I would like to promote this review. Beyond the standard link building, is there anything else I can do to convince google that this is an
authoritative source and deserves to stay on the first page?

Google And Directories I've been doing some thinking about directories and how they've managed to get around the problem of selling links. The funny part is they do it while not trying to hide the fact that there only purpose is getting you backlinks. You can go to any SEO forum and get a list of directories along with their PR.

MSN Live Search Just looking through some logs seem to be noticing a search live spike in my referrers. Anybody seeing anything unusual in this regard? I am seeing numbers on some sites that exceed yahoo (but less than google), but some are showing numbers bigger than google.
