User-Friendly PHP/MySQL Front End?
I'm working on a project, and before I start on the second phase, I want to make sure I'm not duplicating the work of an application that may already be out there. What I've created thus far is a simple form that allows prospective customers to register for our services...

Client Management (for Web Designers)
I've noticed that some design studios or web design companies offer private client areas, whre the clients can login and do some things. Having never actually been into any of these areas, I've always wondered what kind of information or what kind of special resources you would offer your clients in such a client area where they would have to login...

Web 2.0 Misunderstanding
One of my biggest pet peeves is dealing with clients who misunderstand what "Web 2.0" really means. In many cases they ask me for a "Web 2.0" website, when they really want me to design a website in the "style" of most "Web 2.0" web sites out there right now. Web 2.0 to me, more or less, is a philosophy of constructing a website, not a design-style as many ill-informed clients perceive it to be...

Why are unoptimized pages at the top of google?
There's something that Google does that confuses me! I have some pages that use competitive keywords and have no backlinks. The thing is...some of them are at the top of google.co.uk and google.com. Any idea why this could be? The only thing I can think of is that the pages have a very high click through/conversion rate...

Cloud on the horizon
I live in a remote location where broadband connection speeds are a small fraction of that available in the nearest city, 150 miles distant. Economies of scale have made this so, it always was (telephone dialup was erratic and expensive) and it always waz be (to loosely quote a forgotten comedy)...

New 500 GB drive Not accessible through Fdisk
One of our office NFS servers running software RAID had failed. To circumvent the humongous backup issue, I added a new 500 GB SATA drive into another perfectly functioning Server running Fedora Core 3 ( Yes I am always in the past). I expected to issue a fdisk command to partition the new drive. But I can't see the new drive through fdisk...

htaccess compatibility
Although
all but three sub folders will be deleted. there are a few pages that
I would like redirected to other sites simply as a 301 redirect statement

I thought I should ask the pros whether there is going to be the compatibility

Google Plans a PC Operating System
The software, called the Google Chrome Operating System, is initially intended for use in the tiny, low-cost portable computers known as netbooks, which have been selling quickly even as demand for other PCs has plummeted. Google said it believed the software would also be able to power full-fledged PCs.

Adwords, dynamic urls and Google cache
I started an Adwords campaign for a shopping cart site about a month ago. The ads are pointed to dynamic urls, formatted as such:
http://www.mysite.com/index.asp?Page...=Custom&ID=123
The ads are running ok and the links work fine, but today I wondered how the natural results looked for these custom pages, so I hit "cached snapshot" on my google toolbar and none of these pages are showing up in the cache!

Emails bouncing to free email accounts
OK, I assume we are all familiar with this. Its a huge pain in the ***. I have a lot of enquiries and a good deal of the emails I answer to free email accounts (hotmail, Yahoo, Live, etc) keep being blocked by their servers. This is not all emails and is quite random with some of my customers getting responce one day and not the next.

What is worse, higher bounce rate or duplicate content
I
am working on an ecommerce website with dynamic content. I have a
product list page which is also a major landing page. I noticed when
I decided to divide my product list page into 2 pages my bounce rate
lowered 6% - 7% but now webmaster tools is complaining that there
is duplicate content, meta keywords, title, and description on the
productlist page 2.
