IE8 and its 'Compatibility View'
I tried searching for this topic first, but I didn't find any. I would like to read your opinions about Internet Explorer 8's 'Compatibility View' and how it has affected your websites. In my case, we have received only a couple of complaints (for now) about our website displaying incorrectly in IE8, so I've been replying back with the solution of making IE8 use its 'Compatibility View' feature.

Search Engine Listing Problem
Hi i have a problem on my website whereby if i search for it on any search engine (Tech-Reviews.co.uk), all of the pages on the websites have generic page titles. For some reason the title of each webpage seems to be ignored.

Changing Domain Name for 3 Year Old Site
So our domain name blows and we decided to change it to an existing domain with some cred.
What's missing from this to-do?
1) Copy everything onto the new domain.
2) 301 redirect each page to correct page on new domain. (telling google it's permanent and to pass pr.
3) Contact the thousands of pages linking to me and request domain name change.

Internet Explorer 8 Released
Now that IE8 is available to the public to start using like mad!! Why has there
been no fix with the problem on the google custom search
results display!! This will just keep opening new windows
indefinately...has anyone come with an answer to this
problem...I need a search engine on my site and so far
the google custom search has worked perfectly...and is
used by my visitors a lot.

Duplication of Meta Information
By default our site does not change the meta information on category pages when
they extend. As a result I get all sorts of warnings in
the CP from big G telling me that this is bad.

Internet Explorer 8 Released
So, its official. Internet Explorer 8 was released over the weekend. Several sites I have worked with are already scrambling to make sure they are fully compatible (there are some changes between IE 8 RC and the final version apparently) or at least displaying properly in the new, "more standards compliant" browser.

Listing Up and Then Down
I have a network of review sites all on one domain that is about 7 months old. We are getting a lot of page 1 listings on 3 and 4 word keywords but they are not remaining constant in any one position. We will go up to 2 or 3rd position and then move back down to 6-8. This is occurring in a lot of different categories.

Copying Banner Ads
I want to put a page on my website where people can click in the box and it'll highlight the code for a banner ad. I've got the box, I've got the code, BUT I can't get the RIGHT code IN the box. This is my page: Test page but I can't get it to work. In fact, I'm not even sure WHERE the code that is in that box is coming from.

We Dont Want URLs Indexed!
What would be the best way to stop the engines from crawling a specific link on page other than using nofollow? We want to do some tracking on URLs within page that we will want to rank well. These URLs will lead to pages that are indexed and ranking fine.

Should I Care About Foreign Search Engines?
I live in canada and am highly optimized in my local market for all relevant search terms.. I was recently contacted by a guy saying that it would behoove me to become optimized around the world....just have to have one page in japanese, chinese, etc..

Domain Optimization For A Specific Language?
I have a .com domain with content offered in 7 different languages. The site ranks well in the US version of Google, but due to prioritization of local TLD's (and possibly servers) the German, French, Spanish etc content doesn't rank so well on localized versions of Google (like Google.de and Google.fr)

Do I Need A Resale Number Or Tax ID To Sell Online?
I understand that for eCommerce, the need to have resale number or tax ID, is variant, depending on the location of the business. For my online business, I found a merchant account and a distributor. Great! However one is asking me for resale number, and the other one for tax ID. I don't have either.

Redirecting IP's From A State
A client wants to redirect all people from a specific state to a certain page on their website regardless of the request. I do not have a problem with doing it, but I am worried about them losing the SEO rankings that I have built for them over the last two years. The state is Florida.

Complete eCommerce Packages?
I am new to the whole E-Commerce world, and I want to start my own online store where I can sell pet supplies. Now, I want a complete e-Commerce package (or at least one that offers the most features). Why? Because I tried HostGator and I had trouble setting up all individual thingys (webpages, shopping carts, etc). In other words, I don't even know what and how things work with setting up your store.

What Could I Be Earning From Advertising?
I run what has become the busiest fishing forum in the UK - Talk Angling fishing chat and tackle advice - Powered by vBulletin - the forum gets over 3000 unique users a day and 10K+ page impressions. Yahoo Canonical Issue
Perhaps someone could shed some light on this. I've yet to be able grasp what the problem is. I've generally had good rankings on Yahoo. For a targeted phrase "religious jewelry", one of my sites had been on page one for quite some time. For around 8 months now, the site (chainzonline) is on page 5 or completely disappears.

How To Attract Global Traffic?
My brother is looking to launch a new website. He is based in Australia, however he would like the website to have a global reach (i.e. he ultimately hopes to archive good keyword rankings in global searches). Therefore as a start I have advised him to register a .com domain instead of a .com.au.

What To Do When The Competition Cheats?
You're working hard, trying to get a good position in Google, but then you discover that a major competitor has used some rather questionable techniques to swamp the top spots. What do you do? I don't know if it qualifies as a so-called "black hat" technique, but I think so. A competitor (who will remain nameless) has applied some rather questionable methods to effectively swamp the Google search results with links to their sites.

New Domain -Register .com .net And .org?
I'm getting ready to register a couple of new domains and all of the main TLD's (.com, .net and .org) are available. I'm trying to decide what I want to do. a) Register the .net alone and create a keyword rich site that will stand in an empty genre of its own (very little keyword competition).
