Same Domain, New Page URLS Basically I am keeping my domain name, but have redesigned the site having it hosted on a local server using Dot Net Nuke. I'm going to be making it live shortly with the web host, and want to keep my standing in Google for all the pages.

Wipe Clean My Site Listings In Google And Start Again? I have made hundreds of changes to my website as a whole, making the website validate with xhtml, inserting h1 tags where there weren't any, add alt tags to images and generally making changes to the layout and some content (only thing i didn't change were the page names).

Links Inside Content - How SEO Useful? Increasingly I see a trend on major news sites to include links inside the actual content and articles to other topics, this harks back to the original hyperlink concept of the earliest web publishing. It was annoying and distracted one away from the core article, often there were several words per para linked simply because there was content on the site related to that word (wiki style) even if it wasn't penitent to the topic.

Building Links / Articles For Products Whenever you ask the question, "How do I get more quality links?", there are a couple of ideas that always appear amongst the suggestions. One is that you write articles, and the other is to post comments in forums etc. The only problem is that whenever I read anyone's ideas on this, it is usually in relation to their business of selling SEO or other website design services.

Thousands of Pages vs. Multiple Websites My website, Legends of America - A Travel Site for the Nostalgic and Historic Minded is an extremely rich content site that focuses on travel destinations and history of the American West. It is constantly growing, with last year's averages at 3,500 pages, unique visitors of 400,000 per month, and more than 30 million hits per month.

Favicon::: Anarchy or Evolution? Finally, I made an animated favicon on my site. It is an animated rotating globe, but only FF shows it animated. Internet explorer 6.0 don't show it at all. Opera show a static icon. Only opera shows it on sub pages (with code only on the home page).

How Would You Build An FAQ? Our users frequently ask questions, and after several months of answering often the same question, I have decided to "bite the bullet" and build an FAQ. But the question is how? The site primarily uses PHP, and MySQL, and I certainly COULD build from scratch. But should I? After all I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Tools To Determine Best Keywords For A Website I generally rely on our clients to know what the best keywords to optimize their site for. However I am not always convinced that they know. Are there tools out there that a designer would use to help decide what would be the best keywords for a business or industry?

When A Permanent Redirect Is No Longer Permanent I am currently working on a new site, http://www.oam2.com and have a rather nasty problem that has developed because of a redirect. The site is for an appointment diary product called OAM2. Originally the product was just covered under the company website...

Triangular Links as Bad SEO? Yesterday I received an email from someone who wanted to engage in triangular linking. This is the second time someone has approached me for such a tactic. I do not believe in triangular linking because I consider it a bad SEO strategy. For those who are unfamiliar with triangular linking it is when site A links to site B then site B links to site C then sites B and C link back to site A.

SEO Friendly Dynamic Content? Hey guys...got quite a riddle here for everybody. The sad part is its not so much of a riddle and more of a "is that even possible" question. The title of this thread can be a bit misleading because dynamic content can indeed be SEO friendly...no issues there. The issue crops up in the fact that the URL will be unchanging.

Thoughts On "Click Here" Links? I'm busily reworking my website to improve content for users and to try to make it more search engine friendly. In the past I have been told to avoid "click here" links, because irrelevant text such as "click here" or "read more..." are not very helpful to a search engine.

Keyword, Description & Title Tags Of course, one of several things we do to SEO our sites is use keyword and description tags. I realize keyword tags are not terribly effective but they are part of the SEO package. It is always a dance: There are always more keywords to optimize than 200 characters can possibly cover in either of these tags.

Why Do I Have To Change Links? I have a client that has recently updating some page names. They have 301 redirected the old URLs to the new ones properly, but are hesitant in investing the time in changing the internal links (navigation, etc.) to match these new URLs. instead they feel they can just leave the redirects in place and everything will work out.

Would I Be Better Off Buying An Old Domain? I want to redesign my site navigation, right now it is generated with javascript so it is easier to manage across hundreds of pages from a single file. I've started an e-commerce site that sells lingerie. The domain is 9 months old, the site content has been up for ~4 months. Google has indexed ~225 pages, yahoo about 100.

The problem that i want to fix during this update: The Navigation is not visible to search engines and thus is not getting crawled.

Multiple Domains On One Hosting Account I know there are several of you that are running several domains from a single hosting account, and I am thinking about doing the same. I have spent the last 2 days reading and reading, and I see that it is recommended to set up a robots.txt file to keep the spiders from lumping all domains in the hosting account into one.

Shall I Become A Traveling SEO? Hi people... I've been thinking about doing a bit of travelling for a while now and im finally starting to get some plans/savings in place to do so. I have a 9 to 5 which i'll be reluctantly have to give up. But I do some sideline seo/marketing for some extra beer money and I'd like to keep this going whilst im globe trotting.

Google Analytics 101? I have a few questions/concerns and I know that the great minds on this forum might be able to help. I am so terribly wet behind the ears when it comes to Google Analytics. I hear that it's one of the most user friendly analytics out there, but still feel like it is a bit beyond me.
