The Mobile Web has been one facet of the internet
world that I really haven't studied. I understand
it's concept on a broad level, but don't ask me
how to be successful utilizing it. Personally, I
can't stand most aspects of the mobile web.
Although I might not like it, the current trends
show that mobile web is making a big push. According
to this Pew
Internet Research Project, we should all be
paying a bit more attention to the world of mobile
web.
According to the study, as of April 2009, 32%
of Americans stated that there was at least
one time they accessed the internet using a mobile
device. This number rose 8% since December 2007.
When you take the demographic of all Americans,
and begin looking at different demographics inside
that the numbers become even more interesting. African
Americans according to this survey are
the fastest growing users of mobile internet in
the market. 48% of African Americans have used a
mobile internet device at least once to access the
web. There are various reasons explained for this
in the study if you wish to read it.
A wise Journalism teacher once told me that polls,
and surveys are the least pure places you can
find for information. There are so many stipulations
that can cause a poll to spew out results, it's
a wonder why we use them in the first place. This
might be true, but unfortunately it's all we have
to go on most of the time. And if this survey is
accurate, then the mobile web market will continue
to grow.

Application Development
I am an microsoft access/sql server programmer. Several colleagues has expressed an interest in creating web based applications, or remote windows based applications created for clients who can connect to their system via the internet. Hence nothing is physically loaded on clients office server or PC's, all application and data held on remote server.
question:
1)what development environments are available to fit my needs?
2)what sort of server specification would I be looking at?

Just officially launched my new website that allows users to rate people good or bad, and search for anyone before they have any dealings with them.
It is unique as the profiles of people are submitted by people that know them, not themselves which are usually bias.
I would really like some feedback as to whether site could be a winner or not. |

Cached link in G results in infinite refresh loop when clicked, now the page is gone!
I wish something would done about these short subject lines, there is simply not enough room for an accurate synopsis!
Title: G WMT console erroneously showed webpage as "No title tag". 10+ year old page now gone from their index, and in a search for the URL only, the cached link in G results in infinite refresh loop when clicked! Hack?? Server screwup??
I hate having to post this in a G forum because I know I'll probably get bashed and attacked by the G supporters here.
So hello guys. Here's another serious G screw up that's
contributing to ruining me. For about a month, in the
WMT console they've been idiotically showing 3 pages with
"Missing title tags". In searches for that problem, I
see that I'm not alone and it's happening to many. Apparently
I'm so far the only one that's had the page TRASHED from
their index because of it. Two of the "pages" are, get
this, PDF files!!! How in the hell do they expect you
to put a [title] tag on a freakin' PDF file!?!?!? I have
hundreds of PDF files, yet only two are showing this.
The bigger problem is the 3rd of the 3 pages is one of
my main most important webpages. The page is about ELEVEN
YEARS old, and the [head] data has NOT changed other than
maybe 2 or 3 times changing around the title, description
and keywords tag. There is NOTHING wrong with the [title]
tag, it is simply [title] whatever [/title], above it
is ONLY the doc type declaration, and below the title
tag is the description tag. There are no spaces, it's
a line break between each of these tags, just as it's
been for many years. Yet, G claims the title tag is missing...

robots.txt vs robots meta tag
i'm getting to know wordpress better, and came across
a plugin called Meta Robots Meta
Robots WordPress plugin - Yoast - Tweaking Websites
This plugin basically adds meta robots tags to your pages.
Question: why do people even bother if you can just simply put everything in a robots.txt ??
is one more important than the other? should you put both of them?

Facebook Users Respond to Aging Social Network
Facebook is growing exponentially and it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently wrote a post on the Facebook blog announcing that Facebook has grown to 250 million users. If that isn’t impressive in itself, 50 million of those users have joined the social network in the last three months!
