Quick, think of the last time you weren't in
a hurry. My guess is that you had to ponder to
come up with an example. Almost everything in
our society is based around speed.
How fast can we get from point A -- to point B?
The internet is no exception, in fact it's probably
the poster boy of 'being in a hurry'. One of my
web design teachers in college always said to
try and optimize your site to load in
3-4 seconds. After that, you run the risk of losing
50-60% of your potential visitors.
I'm not sure how exact his figures were, but the
lesson remains. When creating your site, load
times should be what you're checking most often.
Now, Google has released a tool that could greatly
help you increase the performance of your site
-- Page
Speed.
The tool was announced in Google's
Code Blog yesterday, and is their answer to
YSlow.
Page Speed, like YSlow is a Firefox add-on that
is integrated through Firebug. All you have to
do is run Page Speed on the page you want to check,
then the program provides suggestions on how to
make it run faster. For example, it might optimize
an image for you or identify issues with your
code.
If anyone has tried it out, I'd like to hear back.
Is Page Speed worth using over YSlow? Do you see
it catching on and being a home run like other
Google tools?
The ideas presented in the WebProWorld newsletter
editor's note do not reflect the thoughts, and
ideas of the WebProWorld community.

H1 H1 H3 Tags
h1 h2 h3 tags importance?
can you use the same keywords in all 3 on the same page or should you rather have variables of the keywords within the tags on the sames page?
Does Google recognize these tags like titles, where each h1 tag should be different from page to page to identify a theme for each or can you have the same h1 tag keywords for all your pages? and then just vary your h2 and h3 for theme page specific.

Hello folks. I would appreciate a review of my website Insurance claims questions? Help and advice on auto, home, business, and other claims at UClaim.com.
My important keyword phrases are:
insurance claim advice
insurance claim help
insurance claim question
I think I have the best content for consumers with insurance claims on the internet, yet my site ranks for these terms may pages down on Google, and yet sites that sell insurance are on page one for these terms?
Looking forward. |

Anyone running / know about a Cobalt Qube 3 BE?
I just purchased an old Qube 3 Business Edition that, according to the seller has a fresh install and all available updates. I can access the Qube through Port 444 and do all of the setup, but am unable to get the regular Port 80 web server running. Status Report also shows a 'Red Dot', 'Not Running' for the web server. Any idea how to fix this? Even doing a bare metal install is problematic in that he Restore CD will not run on the two Wintel computers I have available. I know very little about Linux, so if it is a matter of poking around with Terminal, please keep it as simple as possible.
