WebProWorld Members,

I can remember the first time I visited the video hosting site, YouTube. It was in college, and taking out some of the obscene language here's what I said, "So, what is this...America's Funniest Home Videos online?"

Needless to say the video site grew up, for the most part. There's still AFHV type video being posted, which isn't a bad thing but it's always good to have more variety. Skip ahead a few years to when Google bought out YouTube and brought it to the 'House of G'. I remember then saying, "Give it a year or two then YouTube wil go all commercial"

My second prediction has slowly but surely been coming true. It seems like every time I visit YouTube, the ads get bigger, and there seems to be more of them. I can't blame Google though, as trying to figure out how to monetize YouTube has to be a rough endeavor. The latest news shows that Google has a trick up their sleeve...

According to Bloomberg.com, Google is set to release a full length feature film premier. The movie is called, 'Home' and is from Fifth Element director Luc Besson. It will be premiering in theaters and YouTube at the same time, which is pretty ground breaking to say the least. The past few months, Google has been releasing indie films and TV shows on YouTube but nothing on the same level as this. The announcement definitely poses some important questions.

Will this idea be the beginning of a trend, where theatrical releases will be found online? Is YouTube going to eventually be rid of the 'dog on skateboard' videos? I hope not, sometimes it's funny and refreshing to view mindless goofiness on YouTube. If this is the beginning of something bigger, I can atleast say I was there when it first happened.

The ideas presented in the WebProWorld newsletter editor's note do not reflect the thoughts, and ideas of the WebProWorld community.

Competitors Linking To Their Own Site

Competitors Linking To Their Own Site
We noticed that most of our competitors are linking their own pages to their website and it is showing up when we check who is linking to them in the google search box. Is this a beneficial tatic? These websites actually have a lot more pages of their own linking to them than from outside sources. If this something that we should be doing and if so how do we do it? They are ranking on the first page of google so they must be doing something right other than having a lot of content. Unfortunately our website's header has our page links in a image form. Would it be beneficial to us to put h1 text links below our header on all pages linking the website together and back to the home page on each one?

Domains Buy/Sell
Trying to buy a domain but no response

I have a domain that I am interested in reaquiring (I let the registration lapse and it was bought by another register) The domain is about as "invented" as you can get meaning we used 3 names and combined them into one abbreviation.

The person that owns it now has hidden all contact info on betterwhois to include phone, address, etc. I would like to get this domain back if for no other reason sentimental purposes.

I am turning here for some advice, if there is any, and would welcome any input.

A Recipe For Keyword Research
One of the most important ingredients in keyword research is understanding the language your target market speaks. While your department, your branding crew, your boss may have created concepts, jargon, slogans, or other insider language tools they’d like the consumer to adopt or internalize, unless the consumer has been in the same meetings and viewed the same PowerPoint presentation they aren’t likely going to be using that language to search.
