If the three keywords of real estate are location,
location, location. Then marketing's list of words
is audience, audience, audience.
Ok, so there's more to real estate than location.
Of course there's more to marketing than your
audience. However, the statement makes sense because
knowing your audience is where the base of any
successful marketing campaign starts.
You'd think that marketing for the most part would
be an in-house endeavour. If you are in the marketing
world, you know this is far from true though.
Why is that though? Wouldn't common sense dictate
that a business knows its product or medium better
than an outside influence?
In a world that makes sense, more times than not
this would be true. Knowledge of a product or
company a lot of times has little to do with making
it appealing to others. Why? Because people need
to be told why something is great.
Look up Sega Channel from the mid-90's for a great
example. One of the most ahead of its time
ideas, awful marketing.
Successful marketing from my point of view is
the coming together of yin and yang. Creativity
being the yin, and a strong business sense being
the yang. That balance of mindsets is a very hard
thing to come by in this world. I'm admittedly
more of a creative person, but am awful when it
comes to business. You sure you should be listening
to my advice?
As you trek forward with your online marketing
campaign, remember your audience. Think of creative
ideas that reach this audience, and then make
sure that idea is creating a healthy bottom line.
Sounds simple doesn't it? Ha, good luck.

Tracking s/w
I have many websites, all dynamic PHP driven sites. Some are wordpress, some are custom or other CRM driven sites. I have google adsense installed and would like to add the following functionality as well for my direct advertisers:
ability to track outbound clicks per banner/text ad, even adsense that can be delivered in a clean easy-to-read report to my advertisers...i.e. admin area might show the banner ad, the traffic info like referrer, ip address, date/time, browser info, screen res, etc. but most importantly, how many clicks within a given time that are unique and not unique
ability to track incoming "tagged" links so I can generate a report and see where my visitors came from, whether search engine or from a direct affiliate link I define...i.e. create the trackable campaign links via admin area, say bob's surf shack wants to ad a banner to my site but wants to know how much traffic he is giving me and what is the peak time, etc.
a decent secure admin area that has a clean smooth flow and web 2.0 style admin area is also preferred.
I am sure this s/w exists, just having a hard time finding it all in one package. I prefer something free or demo to test first but willing to pay. I'd also prefer this as a serverside install I can integrate with any PHP driven site.
I've looked at a lot of scripts but don't want to install multiple scripts for each purpose.

strange www problem
I recently setup a site on our server and registered the domain at godaddy. Now that the DNS adjustments have resolved, my site will appear when I type the domain name in without the "www" in front of it, my site will appear. If I type the url with "www" in front of it, it gives me an "Address Not Found" message.
with www, no site

I want to reach the "Real" Business People & Companies, please guide me
Until today I used to lurk in the "Webmasters Forums" and offer my "Banner Design Services" but on the forums I have seen that people do not look much for quality but they want services for "cheap price". However I do equal quality work for all my clients.
But now I want to reach the "Real Business People/Companies" who "really" look for quality and they do not have any problem in paying for it.
Can you friends please advise me how and where to offer/promote my services? Should I submit my site to Business directories? if yes, what directories do you suggest?
I hope you understand my point. I have never done any promotion outside of webmasters forums and I don't know what other places are where good business companies go to hire designers.
I hope I get a good guidance here

Social Media Done Right
A lot of people like to give their opinions on how to use social media, but Katie Sween's opinion is advice that everyone would likely want to hear. Katie is the Head of Marketing at the rapidly growing company, StumbleUpon. She says social media shouldn't be scary at all but should simply be an extension of other business efforts.
