If you study the major forms of media (TV, radio,
internet, paper); I think it's safe to say that
the internet changes the fastest of the four.
Just look at the past 3-4 years, the entire landscape
of the WWW is different.
As webmasters, and SEO experts it's vital that
we stay ahead of the curve. At the speed that
changes occur on the internet it can be difficult.
I believe one such trend that is just now getting
its bearings is mobile web.
Granted, mobile web isn't anything relatively
new. In fact the first capable mobile internet
device was created in 1996. By none other than
Nokia. However, it has and will continue to take
awhile before mobile web surpases traditional
web browsing (not including SMS).
I think now we're slowly creeping up towards the
apex of mobile internet, and we have the iPhone
to thank (or blame depending on how you see it).
I think the implementation of touch screen technology
is going to be a major revolution in mobile web.
If you don't use a touch screen device, or a Blackberry
then mobile browsing can be a hinderance. Sure,
if you're not around any other internet connected
device it's you're only option. Still, it's your
last option though. I believe touch screen navigation
will completely change that.
If you get started on investing in developing
for mobile users now, you could be greatly
ahead of the curve.
In today's note, I've been crystal balling quite
a bit. Anything could potentially happen, yet
there's such a market for mobile web that developing
for it should be considered. If you're looking
for a place to start, the W3C
Mobile Web Initiative is good source for information.
Then when you are ready to actually go through
with development, learn about content
transformation.
The ideas presented in the WebProWorld newsletter
editor's note do not reflect the thoughts, and
ideas of the WebProWorld community.

Browser In Testing Showing Different Result
I am frustrated because I have been testing my site on firefox and ie from my local root folder and the images are showing up. But when I upload the files to my website they aren't working correctly. I have made sure that the server that I have my files on has all of the most recent images uploaded on it and checked my links. And the ftp that I am using is working correctly because I checked it with a link (I also double checked inside of my hosting site that I had all of the images that I am using uploaded and with the correct paths to them). But like I said they are not showing up on my site. For example, my background image is showing up in the browser window when I try it locally but when I reload my site with the new image in the css it doesn't work (I don't see a broken link on the site either...just nothing is showing up)
body{background-image:url(Redone/images/reverse.gif);
background-repeat:repeat;
height:100%;
}
Does anyone have any suggestions about what is going on and how to correct this?

Under pressure here and need info for client about links
I could do with a bit of independent advice relating to the validity of some links that a client of mine has bought from a former consultant. The client is getting very uptight and I need to ptrovide some fairly accurate advice and need to be sure of my ground so apologies if under pressure
Now this client has been sold some links on a network of Blogs that are powered by Pluck as a CMS and when you do a “click view source” of the page concerned you cannot see any of the links but when you do a mouse over of the blog roll and then copy and paste into an html editor the links show up as the following:
Anchor Text
Where target site obviously is my clients domain name etc (for confidentiality reasons I cannot divulge the url details).
Now it would appear to the outsider that what is happening here is that this blog is all being powered from an external database and results such as the Blogroll are being generated “on the fly” and therefore as these links don’t exist on the actual page will not be picked up and tracked by either Googlebot or Yahooslurp etc
He is concerned in that after two months his links haven’t shown up anywhere as back links and I am concerned that the real reason for this is that the reason for this is that if the above is true then they don’t actually exists as pure SEO links and therefore are worthless.
Anyone got any opinion on this?

ip2country redirect
I am using ip2country in conjunction with php and mysql to detect the country - and then redirect accordingly.
At the moment i simply want to send uk browsers to one page and the rest of the world to another.
My question is - is it possible to test the rest of the world option using a uk based browser when the pages are uploaded to a uk based provider.

Rankhigher.ca Claims
There is a company in Burlington, Ontario that I know named rankhigher.ca that tries to perform SEO services for it's clients and totes that domain registration length is a major factor in search engine rankings...
I read a post today at searchengineland.com that this is not true and that even Mr. Cutts says as far as he knows this isn't true.
Do
Links From Expired Domains Count With Google?
Does anyone else have any ideas or proof of or otherwise?
