WebProWorld Members,

When you mention SEO around someone the mind can shift to very general and broad ideas. Just increase that Google PageRank, supplement it with good Yahoo standings and you're in like flint, right?

Well, not to discredit page rank (because it would be silly of me to do so) but there's more to healthy SEO than just bowing down to the Google gods. There are numerous aspects to focus on, but today let's tackle local search.

Granted, local search isn't important for everyone. If you own a business that ships worldwide, then that's where your focus should be. If you're selling goods or services with a distinct regional flavor then local search should be your primary focus.

I find the first, and sometimes most important step is to have your business listed on Google Maps. It doesn't take long to do, and your page traffic can increase dramatically in some cases. Then, you can of course post ads on Google Maps as well.

The idea of regional focus is the key in deciding upon if local search is a key for business. For example here in Lexington, Ky - horse farms are a big part of the region. So, for my Google Maps search I type in 'lexington horse farm', and the top result is Empire Stud. Mating Services? Is that legal? Take this idea and use it for wherever you reside.

I think I'm going to break this editor's note down into a two parter. There's much more with local search I want to discuss, so I think I'll have a conclusion tomorrow. So look forward to that... ;)

The ideas presented in the WebProWorld newsletter editor's note do not reflect the thoughts, and ideas of the WebProWorld community.

NoIndex'ed - Should I file a Reinclusion Request

How do we get supplier to pay for returned stocks
I actually Noindex'ed my self. I was using Google Optimizer to test two different versions of our index page. Version "B" had a noindex, nofollow tag, I didn't want it inadvertantly indexed. Well, I went with version "B" and copied it over the index page, but forgot to remove the noindex, nofollow tag. It took about a week, but Google, kindly complied. :O)

Anway, I fixed it yesterday and I'm curious if I should make a re-inclusion request or if time will just short it out? The page had been ranking in the 5th - 7th position for some great keywords.

Thankfully we have subpages that rank on their own, so all was not lost.

The goal of our redesign was to implement a more professional appeal than we currently have on our live website, Gold Jewelry, White Gold Jewelry & Multicolored Gold Jewelry in 14K Gold, and to increase our conversion rate. Please visit qa.orolatina.com and let us know what you think.

I'm working on some product listing & product detail pages for websites.

In this instance lets assume its a shop. In this shop I have multiple listings and multiple products. I list product A within multiple categories

/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/{searchkeyword2}/{searchkeyword3}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword4}/ So I would be able to view the product A here:

/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/{searchkeyword2}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/{searchkeyword2}/{searchkeyword3}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword4}/

Paragraphs directly under heading?

We have designed a website where each page heading is in left floated div and page content (pictures, paragraphs, level 2 headings) are wrapped up in div right to heading. We have been told that the paragraphs have to come directly under the level 1 heading. Otherwise it would have disadvantages with regard to SEO. Do you have any thoughts on this?

I just lost 3C from Google Adsense!

I earned $2.90. from one click. Then, later, I noticed it had dropped to $2.87. I have never seen this happen before. Anyone else noticed something similar?
