WebProWorld Members,

I think it's funny to see the dichotomy of people when you talk about April Fool's Day. Some people really get into the spirit, and pull off practical jokes. Whilst others walk around with a frown all day.

I had planned on doing an April Fool's joke, but since I'm still new at writing for WPW, I thought better. Just know that I had an entire spread about Google's new social networking/dating service called GoogleHearts.com.

Before the internet, April Fools Day was a more simple time. Maybe, you pulled out a whoopee cushion, or made up a story to get at your parents. The internet has really turned April Fool's Day into something big. Perhaps something dangerous.

I'm a self-proclaimed optimist so I like to think that most of the world is filled with intellectual people, in some form. The idiots just happen to be louder. When an April Fool's joke goes online, it's shocking to see how many people will be buy into a story. If I wrote a blog post that Obama resigns as president to become host of American Idol, I gurantee atleast three people would believe me.

It's this idea of the easily manipulated, that makes April Fools pranks dangerous online. Perhaps, someone just reads your headline without reading to the end, where you actually say 'April Fools'. In real life, you control the scenario of the prank so it's up to you when to end it. Being online is different, as the user decides when to begin and end their viewing of content.

So, be careful out there on the internet today. More than likely, everything you're reading is false. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Oh no, sounded like a pessimist just then.

Which software for clients to use

Changing Domain Name for 3 Year Old Site. Is My To Do List Correct?
Hi,

I have a couple of clients who would now like to begin maintaining their own websites - i.e. just changing the odd picture here and there and bits of text etc - nothing structure / layout wise.

The websites they have are just basic html so the software needs to easily edit html and probably have a graphical as well as code view.

So can anyone recommend a good and easy to use web editing software which incorporates an FTP client and isn't too expensive that my clients would be able to learn relatively easily.

Thanks

Important: Related keywords and pages assignment

Let's say I'm promoting my site with link building (keywords refer to URLs).
I've group of keywords. Each keywords group has semantic relation:

For example:

Keywords Group 1:
Affordable Boongie services
Boongie services in LA
Cheap Boongie accessories

Keywords Group 2:
Affordable Chikaka services
Chikaka services in LA
Cheap chikaka accessories

Do you think it's good Idea to assign a page for each keywords group (one page for each keywords group)?

Maybe I need to create a page for each phrase (one page for each phrase)?

What do you think? How would you promote that site (what about the homepage).

P.S
Assume you have full control of the site and you can edit and add new pages.

Nigerian Scammers are Targeting my Customers

I have recently been getting emails and calls from my advertisers telling me that they have been receiving suspicious calls from people pretending to be interested in their businesses for sale. (business-trader.com.au)

These calls are from people claiming to live in countries like Nigera and surrounding.

I can't believe the nerve of these scammers calling my advertisers direclty!

Today I had an advertisement upload to my site which looked like a ligitiment business. I manually approve all listings and make contact with the advertiser before approving it and making it live. So I contacted the company via the number listed in the advertisement and they tell me that they are not for sale and did not upload the listing and they had never heard of the contact name or email address in the listing.

This was obviously uploaded by another scammer!

My question is, How can I convince these low life scammers to leave my site and customers alone. Do I have a legal leg to stand on?

All help appreciated.

What to use ? cart and payment

I am a developer with my first client. I have looked at various shopping crts and cannot decide which one to go with. Its a rather basic ecommerce site with paypal and google checkout, but the client wants to have the ability to have credit cards in the future. My concern is that the owner will have to maintain the cart, so I'd rather have one with not much problems...

I also want a cart where the customer does not have to register...

As for paypal, how does paypal work for accepting credit cards ? Do customers have to have an account with paypal ? I know I wont use paypal account to pay, I'd rather pay by credit card...so I think they will lose a lot of money by not accepting credit cards. So if I can get them a creditcard acceptance without having to pay for a merchant account, they will really be happy.
thanks
