WebProWorld Members,
The integration of Flash into the worldwide web
has seen an interesting history. Starting out, I
think Flash was seen as this brillaint idea of adding
(no pun intended) flashier ideas to websites.
Then of course the problems
with SEO surfaced, and many were beginning to
stray away from Flash based sites. Now, Google and
Adobe have teamed up to make Flash more search friendly.
While it isn't as SEO friendly as standard HTML
it definitely has improved.
More overlooked than the SEO problems with Flash, is it's load times. If you build your entire site in Flash, you're more than likely going to need a load screen. How many potential visitors do you think you lose because your Flash is taking too much time to load?
I fall somewhere in the middle between the Flash
lovers, and Flash haters. I think Flash like
anything is good in moderation. It can greatly enhance
your site, and provide your user with a more visceral
experience. However, I rarely recommend fully constructed
Flash sites unless it's based on something creative
like an online art gallery, or movie, possibly a
band.
There are other options out there for creating interactive
pieces for your site that many people construct
in Flash. For interactive menus, or drop down menus
I've recently been using code called JQuery
(great tutorials on the site). I recently constructed
this interactive menu for a Playstation
forum site. There's more you can do with it, but that's just an example. It's more SEO friendly than flash, and I've noticed has the potential to load faster.
Let me hear it from you Flash fans out there. Have you noticed improved SEO with using Flash? Feel free to shoot me a line, or discuss it in the forums.

Diff between regional and global SE optimization
What is the basic difference between optimizing a site for a particular region and optimizing a site for global audience?
What additional steps we need to take (or don't need to take) to optimize a site which needs to be optimized for a particular country or a region as opposed to a site which needs to be optimized for global audience?
Even is their any difference exist at all?

How to increase traffic
Hi guys
Have taken up the cudgels to carry out some -marketing on this site The Swipe | Guitar string cleaner as, although performance in Google is reasonable the traffic isn't good enough.
we have started the on-page stuff and have validated the somewhat over coded html which I inherited so will see what the effect that has for a wider range of key phrases.
We are having videos prepared for inclusion in site and for submission to social networking sites and will also bookmark this to same networking sites.
Adword campaign started but I will be finessing that.
Any thoughts as to how to drive this even further forward?
Best
Ian

a question about traffic and site stats
could someone explain to me the exact definition of 'unique page views?'
If I were to visit a site, then come back an hour later, would that be one unique view?
and what are the effects of search engine spiders--do they count as traffic on site statistics?
thanks
