WebProWorld Members,
The first day of spring, finally! Even though it started off at 30 degrees here this morning, I am still glad I can say spring has arrived. Of course, I am hoping the cold weather goes away very soon and stays away. Then next thing ya know, summer will be here, and I will be a happy girl. :)
On a side note, we are a tad short on posts today, but we still have some quality questions that could use your expert advice!
Our featured post today comes from joncase. He asks, "How To Get Some Vacation Time?" Great question! Jon is self-employed and the only one in the office. He creates, hosts, and maintains about 30 clients' websites. Standard updates to clients' websites that are received by 4pm are done that day 7 days a week. He would like to actually get some time to himself. Maybe even take a week or so off without taking his laptop and doing updates each day while on vacation. He wants to know, what sort of schedule/timing other web masters in use for updating clients' sites? Also, how they handle vacations when there is no one else available to do client updates? Got an idea? Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first has some questions about VPS networks. And the second wants to know how Google chooses pages.

How To Get Some Vacation Time?
I am self employed and the only one in the office. I create and then host and maintain my approx. 30 clients' websites. My business is 11 years old and my client retention rate is very good.
Standard updates to clients' websites (text, photos, etc.) that are received by 4pm are done that day 7 days a week. After 11 years this is getting old. My bad though--I trained my clients to expect this.
I want to "re-train" my clients, so I can get some time to myself, and even take a week or so off without taking my laptop with me and doing updates each day while I am away.
The Question:
I would like to know what sort of schedule/timing other web masters in my situation use for updating clients' sites and how do they handle vacations when there is no one else in the office or available to do client updates.

It is brand new so there isn't many posts and not too much to review, but I'm looking for some feedback on my categories and structure. Mainly if there's any popular categories I forgot about. I grouped them all into 1 main forum to make the index page a cleaner and smaller layout with subforums. Also let me know how the speed is, I have a vps and sometimes it loads instantly and sometimes a little slower so I want to know if its my connection or the box.

IT Discussion Forum IP Addresses and Virtual Private Networks
Will a user who connects into a virtual private network visit a site showing the VPS IP as the origin?
Lets say a user connects from their laptop using a wireless network from Chicago into their Virtual Private Network which is located in New York and then visits a website.
Will the website hosting the server see the VPS network IP in New York or will the server see the IP address in Chicago.
I am very unfamiliar with how VPS networks work so I am not even sure if this sort of proxy scenario is even possible or likely. Your insights would help. Thank you.

Google Discussion Forum How Does Google Pick And Choose Pages?
I've been reading through the forum and trying to find an answer to what is still a nagging question. Why does Google decide to index some pages over others on the same site when the number of internal links etc are the same? It seems like lately it's a matter of first come first served, the first few dozen pages it sees are the ones it will list, everyone else gets bumped.
As an example, PolyPro Big Grocery Tote has been up for weeks and is linked from the front page. I do think it was initially listed but vanished. It's in the sitemap, doesn't seem to have any issues that any other page doesn't have yet it's not appearing even in the supplementals. Is it just a matter of time?
Are there any tools out there for free/pay that will check a page against a basic checklist of "to do/not to do" to make sure I'm not missing something basic?
