WebProWorld Members,
Ran across this today. Pretty funny huh? Guess he got his "15 minutes of fame". Gotta love stupidvideos.com. Always some good entertainment there when you can't find anything to do or talk about. :)
Our featured post today comes from virtualtraveller. He says he increasingly sees a trend on major news sites to include links inside the actual content and articles to other topics. He thinks it was annoying and distracted away from the core article. He prefers to restrict links to the end of the article. So, why are they doing this and does it give some sort of SEO benefit? Does it really make a significant difference? Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first wants to know how often you update your important servers. The second ask about subdirectories and domain names. The third needs help setting up a video player.

Links Inside Content - How SEO Useful?
Increasingly I see a trend on major news sites to include links inside the actual content and articles to other topics, this harks back to the original hyperlink concept of the earliest web publishing. It was annoying and distracted one away from the core article, often there were several words per para linked simply because there was content on the site related to that word (wiki style) even if it wasn't penitent to the topic.
So, content managers like me prefer to restrict links to the end of the article or occasionally end of the para, and only to additional relevant information.
So, why are they doing this and does it give some sort of SEO benefit. I do understand that SE's rate links better if they are right inside the content, but do we have to turn our text pages into link messes to gain the benefit. Does it really make a significant difference?

Internet Security Discussion Forum How Often Do You Update Your Important Servers?
This week I started updating my major servers. DNS BIND, Apache and Zimbra. Normally, I doggedly follow BIND and update religiously, but hold off on other servers like Apache unless a critical flaw is found.
I am amazed at the number of 1.2, 1.3 Apache servers still out on the Internet, servers that you would expect had at least been upgrade to 2.0.
As system administrator, I think that keeping systems updated is one of the most important aspects of the job.
Do you update only for flaws, or do you build it and forget it, or chase every update, staying on the leading edge.

Search Engine Optimization Forum Which is Better? SEO Domain Name or Subdirectory?
I am doing a new site, one part is a real estate section for a local city.
For the real estate section, would I be better using which of these to rank for "Swainsboro GA Real Estate?
http://www.swainboroga.us/real_estate/
or
http://www.swainsborogarealestate.com
I own both of these domains, but they are both newly registered.
