WebProWorld Members,
Have you checked visited the WPN Video Blog lately? The video interviews from SMX West are still rolling out this week. We have a couple exclusive interviews with Matt Cutts of Google, and more interesting videos to come! Check them out, let us know what you think! :)
Our featured post today comes from xtempore. He was asked to remove a previous 301 redirect from a domain to a new one, but can't get the search engines to update the link to the new site. He is concerned that the Google database has decided because a 301 redirect is supposedly permanent, that it should just continue to consider all pages on that site to be redirects. Does anyone know how to convince Google otherwise? Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first discusses domain names. The second wants to know if there is a code to see if a site links to a certain other site. The third is looking for a jobs api.

When A Permanent Redirect Is No Longer Permanent
I am currently working on a new site, http://www.oam2.com and have a rather nasty problem that has developed because of a redirect.
The site is for an appointment diary product called OAM2. Originally the product was just covered under the company website...
http://www.digex.com.au
The OAM2.com domain was purchased some months ago, and an .htaccess 301 redirect placed from it to the product page for the appointment diary...
http://www.digex.com.au/oam.php
That was all fine, but now the company wants to separate the OAM2 appointment diary out into its own site.
The site (http://www.oam2.com) has been created, and some SEO efforts have been made (still work to be done). At the same time the .htaccess with the 301 Redirect was removed.
Although it was submitted to Google quite a few days ago it still is not appearing in the index, and I suspect the 301 redirect is to blame. It seems that Google (and therefore perhaps other Search Engines) cache the redirect.

Search Engine Optimization Forum What's In A Name?
I have always thought when it comes to picking a domain name, a generic domain name with keywords helps when it comes to SEO.........a bit. That and of course, site content.
Not any more! So what is important? Meta tags? Nope! Title tags? Not any more it seems! Pure HTML, CSS, DHTML or any other type of coding. Not any more.
In an effort to keep us all guessing, Google (I believe) has turned to a much older principle in marketing, presentation and sales ...KISS

Google Discussion Forum How To See If Site Links To A Certain Other Site
Ok, long story short I'm not promoting a certain website now and am trying to delete links I have to it on my website. There are many, many pages on the site and I keep thinking I have removed them all when I happen upon another.
Is there a search command/code I can use with Google, Yahoo and MSN to see if I'm linking to that other site from any page on my site?

Webmaster Resources Discussion Forum Jobs API
I have a client who wants to include an jobs and employment API, so that he can offer work to visitors. But the only ones that I have found so far are basically USA.
We are looking for something for Europe, including UK, ideally multilingual, and something that would pay commissions!
I found one that offered jobs in various countries, like England, which they thought was a country in Arkansas, and Spain, which they thought was a country in South Dakota - they even have jobs listed in Barcelona and Alicante, all in South Dakota!!!
