WebProWorld Members,
Did everyone have a good weekend? Do anything special for Valentine's Day? I was sick of course. And, I had to finish packing up my stuff so my weekend was pretty boring. But, I move next weekend so that part is almost over. Well on we go, have a great afternoon!
Our featured post today comes from gotabiz. He says he received an email from someone who wanted to engage in triangular linking. He says he believes triangular linking is a bad SEO strategy. Gotabiz uses reciprocal links. He says he has success with this and it is much easier to keep track of the sites to which he is linked. He says triangular linking would make this much more difficult and increases the risk of penalization. Are there differing opinions on this issue? Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first has a file naming question. The second needs help with domain names help. The third doesn't want a splash page indexed yet.

Triangular Links as Bad SEO?
Yesterday I received an email from someone who wanted to engage in triangular linking. This is the second time someone has approached me for such a tactic. I do not believe in triangular linking because I consider it a bad SEO strategy. For those who are unfamiliar with triangular linking it is when site A links to site B then site B links to site C then sites B and C link back to site A. It would provide link "juice" to site A at the expense of the other sites. But if the person initiating the triangular link owns/operates A and B then it would actually boost traffic to both of the operator's sites.
I use reciprocal link exchange wherein I will offer to place a link from my site on another site in exchange for a link back to my site. I have success in this area as my link exchange partners are all operating in my niche. It's much easier to keep track of the sites to which I am linked and thereby making it easier for the SE crawlers to index my site and keep up with my backlinks. Triangular linking would make this much more difficult and increases the risk of penalization.
Are there differing opinions on this issue? What does Matt Cutts have to say about triangular linking?

I would appreciate greatly if you could give me some ideas how to increase visibility and friendliness and perhaps accessibility of my site.

Search Engine Optimization Forum File Naming Question
I have a real estate site domain example: AnytownCaliforniaRealEstate.something and I want to optimize the site for the SEO keyword phrase "Anytown California Real Estate" . The index page is the most important for SEO.
Would you name the files?
anytown-homes.html
anytown-apartments.htm
anytown-condos.htm
OR
homes.htm
apartments.htm
condos.htm
Years ago I would use the town name in the filename (and it would help), but do think that it helps today?

Search Engine Optimization Forum Domain Name Choice
Sorry if this has been answered already, but I couldn't figure out the magic search terms to find the relevant info....I've been out of the SEO loop for a while and recently decided to start selling Bat Guano online from a local source. Of course, batguano.com was not available, so I picked up the following domain names and I'm wondering which one would be the best one to use. I plan to redirect the other domain names to the main one (if I remember correctly I should do 301 redirects to the main domain?). Anyway, if anyone has any advice/opinions on the following domain names, please let me know:
BESTBATGUANO.COM
BATGUANOONLINE.COM
BATGUANONOW.COM
BATGUANO.BIZ
BATGUANO.US
I don't know whether I'd be better off going with one of the .com domains because .com may have a better psychological effect on users than .biz or .us names, but I have an exact keyword match on the .biz and .us addresses. I don't know if search engines favor .com addresses over .biz or .us addresses or if the exact keyword match trumps a .com which may have only a slightly less desirable keyword match in the name.

Google Discussion Forum Client Doesn't Want Splash Page Indexed - Yet
A new client is finishing up a services contract with a company and is beginning to prepare for a new biz start up. They want to point new word-of-mouth referrals to a new splash page I will create for them with just basic info and an email link, but dont want that page indexed for SERP listing until free and clear of current obligations.
Is it just a simple task of using Meta Tag for Robots "noindex" and "nofollow" attributes in the splash page to accomplish this? And would this negate any robots from crawling and indexing this temporary page?
Or is a robots.txt file required? I understand using: "Disallow: /" should block the entire site from all bots? The host facility also uses shared IP's.
