How is everyone today? Good I hope. I am always better when the weather is good here, and besides some strong winds, it isn't that bad today.
I think we have some pretty good posts today in WPW. All of them could potentially
turn into lengthy discussions. So, make sure to check them all out and contribute your expertise! :)
Our featured post today comes from auctionhugh. He has some questions about keyword tags. The question is, what happens if you use 300 or 400 characters in these tags? Are the ones after 200 generally ignored? Do the ones after 200 actually "water down" the ones before 200 so that the first 200 are less effective? He says his thought has been that "it can't hurt to put 300 or more characters worth of words in those tags. What are your thoughts? Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first ask about Google's geolocation system. The second wants to know if they should offer an affiliate program. The third needs help understanding cloud computing.

Search Engine Optimization Forum
Keyword, Description & Title Tags
Of course, one of several things we do to SEO our sites is use keyword and description tags. I realize keyword tags are not terribly effective but they are part of the SEO package.
It is always a dance: There are always more keywords to optimize than 200 characters can possibly cover in either of these tags.
My question is this: What happens if you use 300 or 400 characters in these tags?
Are the ones after 200 generally ignored?
Do the ones after 200 actually "water down" the ones before 200 so that the first 200 are less effective?
My thought has been that "it can't hurt to put 300 to even 500 characters worth of words in those tags.
However I think I have noticed that on a site where I increased those tags pretty substantially hoping to get a broader set of keywords, all the words are now less effective.
Likewise the same question for using short versus very long page titles.

I am looking to see how easy is it for you to find what you want on our new site and then go through the checkout process. Was any part of the site confusing or did anything stop you from continuing through the process? It just went live this week so I can really still work with the developer to make some good changes.

Google Discussion Forum Questions on Google's Geolocation System
Over the past week or so, I have been noticing for some queries, Google is resorting the search engine results based on where I live. As I am normally logged in, I hadn't noticed this before, but I ran into a few questions as I was exploring this function, and was curious if anyone might have some more information about this...
1. What types of queries does it take to trigger the Geolocation? I have not been able to find any particular pattern for when geolocation was used.
2. How do you tell Google where your business is located so that you can be sure you show up in the correct place?
3. Is there a way to get Google to show you what they would display a user coming from a particular city without having to track down a proxy located in that city?

Affiliate Marketing Discussion Forum Why Offer An Affiliate Program?
My company manufactures and distributes a product that is quickly
becoming very popular. We are attracting a ton of interest from retailers and
distributors. While those deals are in the process of being inked, we
primarily depend on sales from our website to fund the company. We currently
rank #1 or #2 for all the keywords associated with our product and run
an extensive adwords/marketing campaign as well.
The question...
Why should I consider implementing an affiliate or small online reseller
program?
We have gotten several inquiries from interested individuals
who have plans to sell the product via their website and have us
drop ship.
While I can absolutely see the value of distribution or drop shipping for
a buy.com, walmart.com, target.com, etc.. (huge market presence)

Internet Industry What Is Cloud Computing? I've been I've been seeing the buzz about cloud computing all over the net. But I still don't have a clue just what it is all about.
I don't think I'm completely stupid, but I just haven't been able to get a handle on what this term refers to.
Would one or more of you genius' on this forum be willing, and able to lay it out here in laymans terms so I can understand what it really is?
Don't try to thrill me with technical terms, cause I wouldn't know any more after reading it than I do now, just be plain with your explanation as if your writing for a neophite.
