WebProWorld Members,

Ahhhh Friday! :) It actually got up to about 50 today which is sooo much better than 10 degrees! Of course, I like it when it hits about 80 degrees so I am still very anxious for summer to get here (not that that is a surprise to anyone). I am moving in a couple weeks and I hope the nice weather sticks around. It is not fun moving when it is freezing out! Well, hope you all have a good weekend... I will be packing up my stuff!

Our featured post today comes from mitchers. He wants to redesign his site navigation, right now it is generated with javascript so it is easier to manage across hundreds of pages from a single file. The navigation is not visible to search engines and is not getting crawled. He says he would like to manage navigation from one file and have it inserted in each page. What solutions should he consider when doing this update? Click here!

As for the remaining posts, the first is having problems with Adwords. The second ask about a popup window on a site. The third discusses whether to use Flash or not.

Redesign Considerations

Redesign Considerations
I want to redesign my site navigation, right now it is generated with javascript so it is easier to manage across hundreds of pages from a single file.

The problem that i want to fix during this update:
The Navigation is not visible to search engines and thus is not getting crawled.

Ideally I would like to manage navigation from one file and have it inserted in each page. I have used SSI in the past, but it doesn't play well with IIS without changing the file extensions to shtml, which I don't want to do. Currently the file extensions are all htm.

What solutions should I consider when doing this update?

What are the best practices for creating navigation that is easily updated across hundreds of pages?

Thanks in advance for any input.

My AdWords Is In Limbo

I have had an account with adwords for several months. When I first started using adwords I added money to my account a few times... After a couple of months I just got kinda bored with it (and thought it was expensive when I seen that I had paid $2 for one click). I stopped adding money, stopped signing in to my account to check on my clicks, impressions, etc...

Anyway, a few days ago I signed in just to take a look around, and maybe give it a second chance, and I realized that I still have $25.00 in my account.... I realize that google does not give refunds in adwords... so I was wondering... is there a way that I could spend it up, or trade it in for a google t-shirt or something?

I still have a list of keywords and I still have my active ad but I have not received clicks or impressions in at least a month...

Popup Event: How Do They Do That ?

I am interested to find you how in this domain Futbol24: Livescore, soccer results, fixtures, statistics they are displaying on a popup window when some games shown underneath is updated.

If you watch this page showing live results you can see that when a goal is scored a popup window comes showing the latest games where a goal was scored or a player was booked or sent off.

How do they do that ?

Flash – To Use Or Not To Use?

Flash is an undoubtedly a superior web technology that has changed the way websites are designed. It has come a long way since its inception and now forms an indispensable web design tool.

However, as with everything else Flash has it share of advantages and disadvantages. Here are some reasons to use and some others not to use Flash.

Why to Use Flash

Cross Platform Compatibility
Almost all major browser support Flash. Moreover, the Flash plug-in is independent of the operating system and browsers. Therefore websites or applications build on Flash are viewed correctly on all the systems and browsers that have the Flash plug-in installed.
