WebProWorld Members,

It has been one long week! Between the ice and the server problems here lately, it has been hard to get anything done it seems like! Here are a couple pictures of what some people are going through here in Kentucky. And of course, the ice still hasn't melted. It might be Sunday before that happens. Some people won't even have electric or water for up to two weeks! I hope the storm doesn't hit where you live!

Our featured post today comes from autographs. He wants to know what steps to take if he is interested in selling an online business? He needs help figuring out the value of a business like his, and how to sell something that you don't want to seem unstable. How should he go about trying to sell his business? Click here!

As for the remaining posts, the first is designing a site and is having some problems with the php code. The second needs help with their ranking in Google. The third is looking for a broadband alternative.

Looking For Advice On Selling My Online Business

Looking For Advice On Selling My Online Business
I have a few questions/concerns and I know that the great minds on this forum might be able to help.

What should I do If I'm interested in possibly selling an Online business?

This business which I leave vague for reasons that I'll explain in a moment has been in business Online for just over 15 years, which really is a LIFETIME or two on the web. We are a niche market and have had great times and slow times just like any other business Online or brick and mortar over the past 15 years.

Honestly I'm just a bit burned out on this business, although I still love it, I just don't have the desire to keep growing it any longer although we still have a good client base and new customers all the time.

This business has a physical product that we stock that has a nice mark up and I have $300,000 +/- in retail inventory on hand at the current time. The total Business "Network" includes OVER 50 Domain names that either point to the site or are feeders for other traffic to the site and all of these would be included in the sale Many of these have been registered for 6-12 years some only 2-3 but still some GREAT domains that help a lot with traffic and to generate sales.

Please Help!

I am trying to work on a site for a client of mine, Capitol Payment Systems - Welcome. and on the site which is using php as the site infrastructure, I am getting an incredibly odd error that I don't seem to know why I am getting. Underneath the flash image, there is a full line of white space. This part of the page begins the main.html piece of the php code and when I replace the main.html with any other page, there is no line - only on the main.html page which leads me to believe the error is there.

However, I can't seem to figure out where the ghost line came from. I didn't do anything to the site and all of a sudden a line appeared! If anyone can give me a tip or idea on how I can possibly get the site to work normally, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Also, if you're already helping, can you help me figure out how to get the main section to line up properly with the flash image and have the dotted line on the left side of the page actually touch the about us image - right now, it's a dot above the image. Thanks so much for any help you can offer me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your help.

Google Discussion Forum
SERPS and Google

I have a problem with one of our ecommerce websites in that any search with Google would have resulted in us landing on the first page. Today when I repeat the search we are no where to be found (page 5 or less). When I repeat the search with say Yahoo we are always on page 1.

Things I have checked. Page rank is still 3 (not that this should be relevant). Back Links are all in place. Webgrader score is down a little, but still good for the site. All 250 pages are indexed by Google.

We have been adding additional pages, but this has been an ongoing activity for months. From the Stats S/W I do not see any decline in the number of page views that the site is receiving.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Has there been a general change with Google that I might have missed. Might I have inadvertently annoyed Google in some way?

Thanks for your reples..

Slow Upload Speed For Broadband

I have a 20MBPS broadband service here, which is great for downloading, but I want a faster upload speed and it really bugs me that upload speeds are so slow. I get about 750kbps upload speed on my 20MBPS connection.

I am hoping when Virgin upgrade to their 50MBPS service that the upload speed will increase a bit too, but wondered if there are any alternatives, for a better upload speed.

The only solutions I have found are meant for big businesses and are hugely expensive.
