WebProWorld Members,

So today, we actually got to 48 degrees, and let me tell ya, it is so much better than zero! It actually feels quite warm compared to the last couple weeks. It isn't going to last for long, tomorrow will be nice, and Saturday back down we go. But oh well, I'll take what "warm" days I can get. Hope it's nice where you are! :)

Our featured post today comes from high_road. He is trying to set up Adwords conversion tracking but doesn't have access to the conversion pages' code to insert the tracking snippet. Anyone have recommendations on a third party hosted cart system that will let him have access to the conversion destination page code? He has spent a lot of time searching for a system, but no luck so far. Can you help him out? Click here!

As for the remaining posts, the first has a problem with IE blocking a javascript execution. The second has some questions about 404 settings. The third needs help with redirects.

Conversion Tracking With 3rd Party Hosted Cart Systems?

Conversion Tracking With 3rd Party Hosted Cart Systems?
We're trying to set up Adwords conversion tracking and unfortunately don't have access to the conversion pages' code to insert the tracking snippet. (The BS system we're using now doesn't even let us specify our own conversion destination page.)

Anyone have recommendations on a third party hosted cart system that will let us have access to the conversion destination page code? I've burned up a lot of time in searching for such, but no luck so far. (Yes, a self-hosted cart system would be nice, but the boss doesn't want to pay for the merchant account and gateway fees at this point. Which I think limits our choices considerably.)

Any recommendations appreciated...

thanx,

steve

PS: Considered Google Checkout, but it requires the shopper to open up a Google account. I'm a bit leery of setting up that hurdle for them...

I'm having to redesign this site, which I think is fine the way it is. Give me your thoughts if you were in the same position..

Stopping IE From Blocking JScript Execution

The newest versions of Internet Explorer have a nasty habit of blocking the activation/execution of JavaScripts on pages when they load. Since IE doesn't indicate anything other than a warning message saying to the effect that it could be dangerous to allow ActiveX or scripts to run and would you like to allow them to run, I'm afraid most people will decide to block the script's execution or just plain leave the site because they fear it might be trying to download a virus or malware to their machine.

I just have an ad banner on the right-side of my page with a JavaScript ad rotator script so that each page visit or refresh will randomly display a different image (ad) with a link to that ad's website/web page.

Google vs AVG Toolbar 404 Settings

We provide our sites with bespoke error 404 pages. Google (and maybe others) see's it as an issue if you dont add the 404 code to the header, so we add this info using server side code.

So far so good.

However, recently many people have been installing the latest version of AVG, along with their toolbar. This toolbar detects 404 pages and then serves up its own dodgy search page along with a load of yahoo ads! This looses the visitor from the site and is quite a big issue (especially with moving old sites to new)

.htaccess, Can I Redirect A Redirect?

Hi, some time ago I set up a .htaccess file directing an OLD PAGE which no longer existed, to NEW PAGE.

Now the NEW PAGE it was directed to is also gone, so I want to redirect the NEW PAGE to a NEWER PAGE!

Not sure how to handle this, the first line of the .htaccessfile says

redirect PAGE A to PAGE B

(then the next line says)

redirect PAGE B to PAGE C

Can I do this?
