WebProWorld Members,
I had to get a new phone today. I used to have the TMobile Shadow. I had all kinds of problems with it. Yesterday, it quit working completely. So, today I got a Blackberry Curve. I think I am going to like it once I get used to it. Does anyone else have a Blackberry? Pros? Cons? Feel free to share! :)
Our featured post today comes from ppis. ppis has a newly revamped site. His major worry about the launch is that if he simply replaces the old site with the new, they are going to lose a lot of visibility, until Google decides to reindex the website. He has read a lot about 301 redirects but still hasn't found a good solution. Read all the details and see if you can help. Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first has some community building questions. The second ask about putting the world "sale" after keywords. The third is having problems with javascript and IE.

Yet Another 301 Redirect Question!!
The situation is this: We are currently redeveloping the website for our local tourism association. The existing site can be found by Googling oban and should be the one in P1 (Oban tourism information and accommodation - The Official Website).
The site lists information on local accommodation providers, activities, local businesses etc and is extremely successful with good search engine visibility and excellent traffic.
This incarnation of the site was built by us about 5 years ago using a bunch of perl scripts querying text files to produce dynamic pages, the content of which can be managed through a basic CMS on the back end. This way, subscribers to the site can update their details at any time.
The new site has been totally revamped and built using PHP/mySQL and has a far more comprehensive and modular management suite behind it and, apart from a few minor bugs that are being ironed out as I type, works brilliantly. We are hoping to launch the site next week to replace the existing site. The new site can be viewed at (oban domain)/new_site.

Marketing Strategies Discussion Forum Building A Community
I have a social bookmarking website which will soon have 1000 registered users, it gets more 10 new sign ups per day.
Most members submit their blog posts or some news but not many vote or comment on other stories. I understand that most join to submit stuff but I do want to create a build a community.
Any ideas of how to make the site more community oriented?

Graphics & Design Discussion Forum IE Shock and Awe on Menus
If anyone has a solution or an idea for a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.
IE is blowing up my javascript dropdown menus, and I can't figure out why. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this site needs to be launched for my client very soon. It uses Spry and was tested (and worked) in FF3, Safari, and Chrome, and I can't figure out what could be different in IE. It works 95% in IE8, and blows up in IE6 and 7.
