WebProWorld Members,
I'm sure everyone has heard that CES 2009 is this week. Of course, we have a team out there that will be sending back all kinds of good coverage. I'm sure everyone there is having a good time. Vegas and all kinda of cool gadgets! Be sure to check the WPN video page for the latest updates.
Our featured post today comes from bradhart. He wonders if he should combine semi-relevant blogs. He could import the posts and simply redirect the domain. Both are PR 4 blogs with decent search traffic and wouldn't look out of place including the other posts. What would be the benefits and what would be the risks of closing down the pr 0 blog, adding the content to a different blog? Read all the details and see if you can help! Click here!
As for the remaining posts, the first ask about a 403 forbidden error. The second says he is thinking about making his sites Joomla sites and wonders if it will that affect rankings. The third says old web pages are still showing in Google results.

Potential Benefits of Combining 2 Blogs
I have one blog who for the third straight update has scored a zero on PR. I did a lot of PPP on the site at one time and despite having removed the posts and done nothing with pay per post since last summer. I don't regret doing the paid posting on that blog as it brought several hundred bucks a month in when I really needed. (It made the difference between paying my utilities and not being able to make rent.) This is a pop culture blog which gets a fair amount of traffic and about to start getting a lot more with American idol starting up, but it still has no page rank which means I am making crap on anything that requires PR since the end of july.
My question is this I have two other semi-relevant blogs I could import the posts too and simply redirect the domain to. Both are PR 4 blogs with decent search traffic and wouldn't look out of place including the other posts. The questions are what would be the benefits and what would be the risks of closing down the pr 0 blog, adding the content to a different blog, and simply redirecting the old domain and then letting it expire?
In my mind getting a few hundred relevant posts with good keywords seems like a winning situation since it appears google is only peanlizing the domain and not the content. I know there is a risk I could lose the PR of the new blog, but that is life, I risk that with everything I do not officially approved of by google. That said I also have a good chance of increasing backlinks and organic search traffic to the combined blog which would help my ranking.

Google Discussion Forum Google Natural Search
I have two affiliate sites that are on the first page of Google and rank well for a whole bunch of keywords. They are 3 years old.
They are plain HTML sites and look outdated. I am thinking of making them into Joomla sites - add a blog feeds and other dynamic media.
My question is will that affect my ranking? I am scared to touch them lest they lose the rankings.

Search Engine Optimization Forum Old Pages Still In Google Results
Recently I encountered a website, which is quite old on the net, and has a domain age of nearly 11-years.
The site which has been updated 1-year back, i.e., in Feb_08, is still showing the pages which were developed 10years back, in the Google search results, moreover those pages have no connection (direct link) with the newly updated website.
My question is,
1) Is there any harm to leave the pages like that, or if I remove those pages?
2) Will it cause any negative impact on the web-rankings of the website, if I remove those pages, as it is currently having a page rank of 5.
