WebProWorld Members,

Have you all seen the "Where The Hell Is Matt?" video yet? Seems to be a pretty popular video, but the real attraction is the girl singing in the video. WebProNews has the story here. I'm always jealous of people that can sing really well and this girl is no exception. Check it out, then come back and read the rest of the update of course! ;)

Our featured post today comes from 888knivesrus who is wanting to switch to a company that will host his site with a customized cart, but he is worried about getting hurt by a drop in sales. He says 68% of the site's visits are organic and 52% of that is from Google. How much can he expect to get hurt by the move if the product and category link structure stays the same, and how much if the link structure changes? Do you know? Click here!

As for the remaining three posts, the first wants some advice on Google AdWords Content Network . The second has a file extension question. And the third wonders if anyone can explain why his web pages aren't updating when viewed on an apache local server.

Moving eCommerce Site To New Cart
Moving eCommerce Site To New Cart

My partner and I own and run 888knivesrus.com.

The cart is a softcart by Zoovy.com who a few years ago switched to a success fee based pay structure and as such our monthly fees are in excess of $800. We have found a company to move and host our site with a customized cart but are worried about getting hurt by a drop in sales. 68% of our visits are organic and 52% of that is from google.

How much can we expect to get hurt by the move if our product and category link structure stays the same, and how much if the link structure changes?

Google AdWords Content Network

I've been running my company's search only PPC campaign for about 6 months now and have gone a long way towards optimising it as much as I can (apart from the constant split testing and other tweaks of course).

Now that that is under control and taking up less time, I was pondering on whether to investigate posting ads on their content network. When I joined this company there were a whole bunch of ads performing terribly on there, and that put me off for a while. However, I have seen a couple of blog posts with positive comments about the content network, and I am now reconsidering.

What are your thoughts on the content network? With properly optimised ads and well structured campaigns, can it be a cost-effective source of conversions? Read Replies

File Extension / File Suffix in SEO

I am about to launch a new website (unfortunately, an NDA keeps me from disclosing any details), and I came across the issue of which file extension to use.

The URL-structure is created with URL-rewrites, the files generated include the proper mine-type, so I am basically free to use any file extension I like. Now, the question is, which file extension would be best from an SEO point of view. Ie. no extension (à la Wikipedia), or using .htm (Windows/Dos-World) or even .html.

I came across only one article that was at least marginably sound. In that article, it was stated, that anything that helps the spiders detect the file-type properly can only improve indexing. So, they suggested to use .htm or .html, but gave no thumbs up or down on using no file extension at all.

Pages Not Updating When Viewing On Apache Local Server

Hi everyone, I'm having a really weird problem. Whenever I make a change to a file on my website through Dreamweaver and view it on my local apache server that I setup through the Site Manager, the OLD version of the file appears without any of the new changes! WTF?

I've tried refreshing the site, restarting apache, restarting dreamweaver, nothing works. Of course if I upload the changed file to a live site, it shows up fine.

What cou

ld be causing this? Is Dreamweaver or Apache holding on to an old cache somehow? Also if I create a new file and try to view it, I get a "Not Found" error, like the page doesnt even exist!
