WebProWorld Members,

As I said a couple days ago, I will be gone to Seattle for SMX Advanced next week. It should be a good time, if we can hold off the rain while we are there. I'm sure Jordan will take my place for a few days and provide you guys with all the coverage from the show. Until then, hope you have a good weekend! :)

Our featured post today comes from shamarkaleo, who has a contract negotiation issue. The contract states that the client maintains rights to the text and content and Shamarkaleo's company maintains the copyright of the design. They have a client who will not sign the contract until they change the verbiage and give her full copyright of the design as well. What would you do?

As for the remaining three post, the first has an idea for a spider emulator plugin. The second wants to know if a URL can be too long. And the third wants your opinion on Wordpress Vs Blogger.

Contract Conflict! Now What?
Contract Conflict! Now What?

I've got a contract negotiation issue and would love your advice.

Our company's standard web development contract states that the client maintains rights to the text and content and we maintain the copyright of the design.

This is for two reasons.

1.) The client doesn't normally have the legal or financial resources to handle a copyright battle.

2.) We don't want another design firm altering our design after we release it.

Right now, we've got a client who will not sign the contract until we change the verbiage and give her full copyright of the design as well.

Idea For A Spider Emulator Firefox Plugin

I have an idea for a plugin for Firefox that will render the page in a way similar to how a spider might see that page - for example, highlighting links and different types of text, suppressing client-side scripting, etc. I know there are tools and web sites that already allow similar functionality, but personally, I prefer being able to analyze pages of a site directly in my browser, rather than having to go to an outside program/site to do the test.

Would you be interested in using such an add-on? Also, would you be interested in assisting with the development or testing of the addon?

Can A URL Be Too Long?

We are looking at our URL structure for some of our sites and have been inspecting the length.

For example would a URL folder structure of 6 folders and with 77 characters be too long and get penalised in the SERPs or would it be irrelevant? Are the any other factors I may not have considerered that should influence my decicision?
