WebProWorld Members,

Finally, Mike uploaded the Keeneland pictures to our photo page. We definitely have some fun times, including an air hockey tournament, where I got beat out in the first round. Oh well. It was fun anyways. The album is full of employees with some family and friends mixed in too. They are there for everyone to enjoy so check them out! :)

Our featured post today comes from theundergraduate, who is actually a graduate now and is looking for some career advice. He says the frustrating thing is is that people either want more than 1 years experience and/or a better portfolio and technical skill set. He is learning more skills slowly, but wants some "on-the-job" experience. Did you all go through this? Give your input! Click here!

As for the remaining three post, the first needs help with inbound links for e-commerce site. The second has an issue with his site being PCI compliant. And the third has database questions.

Graduate Seeking Quick Career Advice
Graduate Seeking Quick Career Advice

Hi all, realising that this is a Graphics and Design discussion forum I could'nt really find a section for general advice so I thought what the hey I'll try my luck here.

I am actually a graduate, I dont think I can actually change my username, but that as it is I wanted some quick advice from web and new media designers on how I can get into this industry with a years of industrial experience as a Multimedia designer and a 2.1 in Multimedia Computing course?

The frustrating thing is is that people either want more than 1 years experience and/or a better portfolio and technical skill set and to be honest although I got high grades academically the level of work Isnt really up to the standard due to the wide range of areas we covered and not really focussing on anything.

Site for Review http://www.newandblue.com/

I just re-designed New and Blue and launched it this week. I will be working on the blog and working out the kinks. I would appreciate your feedback.

Inbound Links for E-Commerce Site

Since many sites in my niche (e-commerce site: body jewelry, tattoo supplies) are e-commerce/direct competitors of mine, I'm having a really hard time getting quality inbound links from relevant/related sites (that aren't link pages).

Has anyone experienced similar problems with their projects? If so, can you please offer me some advice? I look forward to your response.

Hosting Issues
Not PCI Compliant

I have recently moved one of my web sites over to Network Solutions from a unnamed provider. The reason I did this was due to my old provider was not PCI compliant through Hacker Safe / Scan Alert.

In fact they had 23 vulnerabilities found that they refused to fix. When I contacted Network Solutions they informed me that I would not have an issue with this on the plan that I purchased "due to the number of hits this site gets I did go with the shared plan". Now bear in mind that with these plans they do offer cart software for e-commerce.

Well I got everything moved and ran a scan though Scan Alert and guess what?!? The Apache version they are running has a major vulnerability and is preventing this site from being PCI compliant.
